It's a constant source of humour to me that people take a vital antagonistic character and want them gone.
Becky isn't there to make things comfortable. You can have a doormat and a sofa for that.
The whole point of the show is that, yes they are detectorists. Yes they are little boys running around, but they also have to exist in the real world. Or else you just get Tony Robinson's Time Team or whatever.
It's the counterpoint.
You see it on every show, "Mum" is one at the moment where people want this character or that character gone because they are annoying. Missing the whole point of the character in the process.
If it was just Andy and Lance wandering around without an anchor to the real world (Becky) most of the humour would disappear up the swanee.
I think Becky is quite the tolerant wife. But bills don't stop coming and life doesn't pause whilst you run around being 13 years old again. I think she gets the balance just about right...here's some rope, try not to hang yourself.
