Could you help me identify the accents?

My wife and I love the show. Could someone help with the accents?

Lance doesn't have the same accent as Andy. He's got those pronounced R's, almost Irish R's. Is that a west country thing?

Russell sounds like John Lennon, but I really don't know. Liverpool? Yorkshire? Someplace entirely different?

Sophie is played by a Welsh actress. Is that just her real accent that she's using?

How about Bishop, the crazy landowner from Season One?

Many thanks.

Toby Jones is definitely trying an East Anglian accent -- which, even though I live in Suffolk, I can't quite pinpoint.
Pretty certain everyone else, except possibly David Sterne who I'm not overly familiar with, is using their own accent.
So Andy's would be Kent and Russell's Mancunian. Bishop sounds pretty RP to me and Sophie definitely has a Welsh accent.

As an American, I can proudly and without hesitation identify all those accents as British.

Same here...but I can tell the difference between Buffalo and Minnesota or Carolina and Tennessee. I can do posh verse cockney with British shows but not much more accurate than that.

I was born in Atlanta, Ga. and though I can normally place a Southern (US) accent to a region of their respective state, when it comes to "British" accents, I'm lucky to pull a cockney from an Australian unless they say, "shrimp on the barby" somewhere.

Thank God for Closed Captioning.

The way they pronounce Peter is very different from how I often hear it.
They say like Pe-er, without the t.
Not that I don't like it, it is just different.

I didn' realise I had a silent T issue until a GF poin'ed I' ou' when I asked for a bo'le of wa'er.

A little late to be answering the OP, but only just got around to watching the series. Bishop has a rather upper class English accent. Possibly more so than you'd expect from an Essex farmer.

Sophie's accent is Welsh.

Russell's is Manchester, so Liverpool wasn't so far out. The actor Pearce Quigley is from Salford, which is where "Coronation Street" is set, if you want a comparison.
