Why do people act like this director is some well known talent

Nobody knows who the hell this guy is but yet all you see is "oh he directed Blue Ruin can't wait to see Green Room after that masterpiece" type of posts. Nobody knows who this chump is and after seeing Green Room I know his previous movie will be garbage too. What was so groundbreaking or great about this movie? Absolutely nothing but as usual its hyped everywhere as if its the second coming. Had a good set up and just failed at it, the villains weren't scary at all and Patricks Stewarts performance was just him talking in a lower voice and acting disinterested, but apparently he instilled nightmare inducing fear into all the reviewers of this film hahahah yeah right. Tony Soprano was a scary character who made you feel genuine fear for characters who crossed him, Patrick Stewart nah he sucked like he always does. Its like you have to believe the opposite of every review or post about a movie online now in order to get a good idea of if you will want to see something. This movie gets all kinds of praise just like Don't breathe while they both suck but I see already a bunch of neck beards trashing the new blair witch in reviews so even though I had no high expectations for it since the neck beards are saying it sucks it will probably be an entertaining movie.

Wow. What a rant.

Its not a rant its an observation, this guy is not well known and for good reason he's not very talented. With nepotism and funding anyone can make this movie. Its script literally would read, "punk bands gig falls through so they take a risky job performing for nazis, see dead body and get locked in a building and repeatedly attacked by nazis". Oh and throw in some stupid supposed to be poignant story about paintball that some 2nd day films school kid would write for an assignment and think its great and you have this movie. The set designers did a good job but nothing else was good. A little restraint may have worked as well to add some mystery and tension as in have someone snatched up by the nazis and taken into a back room where you DON'T see a bunch of stupid gore and just get to hear their screams and wonder "what are they doing to that poor guy back there" but there was none of that.

Evidently those people do know who he is. Blue Ruin wasn't a blockbuster, but it was well received.

What do you think a script is? At best, that's a partial synopsis.

Well, I guess that means some people know who the hell this guy is. Just not you. You're not everybody, are you?

Some of us don't care about the Spielbergs and the JJ Abrams and all the celebrity directors.

Actually, his first film was called "Murder Party" and ::spoiler alert:: it's also excellent. I know. Big surprise, right?

You are seriously projecting. Because YOU don't know about something you figure 'no one' does. If no one knew all the things you don't know, we'd be in serious *beep* as a species.

I knew who he was before this came out so I guess some people have heard of him.
