"They killed a guy in here, let him rot for three days. Oh, and they cancelled the prison dance."

reply

A "showing"? Where? At a church with people who already believe, or a group of people already interested in converting? Also, I'd appreciate a source that is not the official site for the movie itself.

What I'd really be curious to see is the story of a dude who just goes to see the movie in a regular theatre, and decides to change his life then and there. THAT'S the real story....

It was at the premiere of the film in Puerto Rico. If you want to see the Facebook page of the radio station that was there, here it is: (https://es-es.facebook.com/104.1Redentor), you'll just have to translate the page to English.

I really don't think that a person who is changed by a movie is going to run to a newspaper and proclaim it without seeming like he was seeking attention. Though, I'd be surprised if it did happen, which I think might have happened with Passion of the Christ on some people.

If it was a regular premier, who was there to come up to and declare their lives to Jesus? After all, that would just be a regular premier at a regular theatre. Sounds fishy to me.

To Jan_El_Senor: there are people who are converting; you just don't hear about them unless your a part of the believers that listen to the religious radio stations or the religious movie reviews. Here are some real events:

1) A young man who watched the movie "Passion of the Christ" was saved after watching the movie. He was a fan of CSI and later, killed a young woman (his girlfriend), he got away with the murder. After seeing how Jesus laid down His life for those who would repent of their sins; the young man turned himself into the police and repented of his sins and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. The important point here is that this young man saw the movie "Passion of the Christ" and felt remorse for what he had done wrong and turn himself in, for killing his girlfriend.

2) A man's review on God's Not Dead " Another Religious Movie:

"A Bus driver asked how christmas was. I said, stayed home watching dvd andromeda. Then, the Bus driver told me about this film which he just saw (God's Not Dead Movie). Sounded good & I pre ordered it. Just saw it. Wow. It hit home. I cried about Amy's cancer and having no one. Age 60 had just been diagnosed with Myotonic dystrophy. Cause of things and my heart have less than 10 yrs to live. Everybody left me. I have nobody. Went into sadness. Most important thing I got out of the film is-the reminder: I've still got God & Jesus they are my strength & will help me get through it. Not in the dumps anymore."

3) A young woman was thinking of taking her life. A friend of hers (believer of Jesus/God) recommended her if she would commit 30 days of listening to Klove Radio Station (I believe there is a Klove Radio Station in every State). After listening to Klove's uplifting religious songs; she no longer considered suicide and became saved.

4) The mother (called into Klove Radio Station - I was listening that day) said that her and her daughter started listening to Klove Radio Station and a while later, they both became saved.

Either Religious Movies or Religious Songs: People are finding out about God's love and how awesome He is. God's love comforts us when we are sad, angry, lonely, etc. He not only loves us but provides for our every need. If we follow Jesus teachings, we find that we can live a peaceful and joyful live. Although its not easy all the time but anything worth having is worth working for. The above 4 testimonies above are only a mere few but we all have a testimony to give, people just don't know about them.

I hope that the producers of this movie, can make more of these movies to help others with whatever they are going through - life's difficulties, everyone has them, sooner or later.

Not everybody is so crippled by dealing with life they have to rely on imaginary gods to get through it. Clearly you do, so have at it.

I think it does a disservice to functional people, especially children, to be handed this pack of nonsense that will clearly impact the amount of joy, satisfaction and meaning that they could get out of life, without all of this unnecessary baggage that just weighs them down.

reply

Jesus is our Lord and our God. This is a fact. I have God living within me, The Holy Spirit and I will pray for you to find Jesus. With Jesus, we have everything: love, peace, joy and eternal life. Everything was a mess before I gave my life to Jesus but now I have everything with Him.

Jesus is above all, my Lord and Savior. He died for me and I live my life for Him.

reply

God is not imaginary. You see crippled nonfunctional people because you choose to embrace that negative view of them. That's not reality. And I'm confident you don't ask them if they feel crippled, nonfunctioning, trapped or scared. Why? Because they will tell you they are none of those things and that would blast to hell your theory (which quite frankly is the religion which gets YOU through your day eh?)

People who embrace our creator are no longer afraid because they realize where they came from, why they are here and where they are going after this very short life on Earth is over. And once you surrender to this, that's when you can actually start seeing the miracles people you call crippled and nonfunctioning talk about and thank God for...

I'm not crippled by dealing with life. I was an atheist for 30 years, have now been a Christian for 35 years. I have more freedom now than I ever had as an atheist. My life also has hope, and it will until the day I die. Without God, there is no hope. You show me an adult or child who is better off without hope?
I have more joy, satisfaction and meaning to my life than ever. Not because of material possessions, not because of achievements or lack of them, because that is where the baggage is. I have no baggage with my faith! You live, you die, you rot, that gives you more joy, satisfaction and meaning?

Try searching for reasons and proof that God does exist, rather than closing your mind and believing the opposite. That's what I did, and I then realized there are many more reasons to believe in God than to believe in evolution or any other answer to: Where we came from? Why do we exist?

I've lived in the west, and in the east, and I've never found a description of a God more worthwhile to believe in than the God who sent His Son to die for me and you, before we even knew him. As a Christian I'm not offered 72 virgins in Heaven (ever considered that wouldn't be heaven to the 72 virgins?), I wont be reincarnated as a bug or a horse or anything else when I die, but I believe and trust in the God who created this world, this universe, surely has something better for us. I don't need to go out and kill someone just because they don't believe in my God, or because they have converted to another religion. My God is big enough and great enough to defend himself! However He won't force you, he didn't create us as robots, he gave us a free will!

I tend to question when someone says they were an atheist for a long time before becoming a devout Christian. When you say you were an atheist, do you just mean that you weren't raised in religion and never bothered with it, or do you mean you were actively an atheist in that you had thought about it, researched and discussed it and were an informed atheist? I can see going from the first one to religion, but it's hard for me to imagine going from the second to religion.

I honestly don't mean to be insulting here, but I'm sure it'll come across as that. But it would take some kind of head trauma to make me a believer. I was Catholic until I was about 18, when I started to really question. After a few years of being in limbo I started discussing the subject online and eventually came to the conclusion that I was an atheist. Since then I've discussed religion at length in many different contexts. I am an atheist in the same way I'm an aleprechaunist.

Try searching for reasons and proof that God does exist, rather than closing your mind and believing the opposite. That's what I did, and I then realized there are many more reasons to believe in God than to believe in evolution or any other answer to: Where we came from? Why do we exist?

OK, so you were the first kind of atheist: the kind who just never really thought much about it. If you had been an informed atheist, you would never have come around to this kind of stuff. You wouldn't accuse atheists of closing their minds, and you wouldn't fall for the anti-evolution crap.

The difference isn't you opening your mind; it's you getting duped. There is no good reason to believe in God. None of the claims made about him have been or can be proven. Beyond that, we can see how the religion evolved. It's no different from any other ancient religion, except that it's managed to stick around this long. It started off as a tribal religion with gods from different tribes that got narrowed down to one god, and the Old Testament shows a classic example of an ancient tribe and their religion. Then some supposed messiah comes along and say some stuff that sounds great to all the downtrodden, oppressed people, and they start their own cult. Over time that cult expands until they get a huge boost from Constantine.

But nothing about the evolution of the religion suggests it's actually true, just that it's an average religion. And there's nothing in the universe that suggests Yahweh is present. It's kind of weird that the universe looks and acts exactly as we'd expect it to without Yahweh being present, isn't it?

The correct answer to "Where did we come from" is "beyond having evolved from earlier forms of life, we don't know". The correct answer to "Why do we exist" is that it's a misleading question. It presumes there is some purpose to our existence that's not dictated by ourselves individually. We exist because that's how the elements came together in our solar system.

However He won't force you, he didn't create us as robots, he gave us a free will!

I'm cool with him not forcing me. I'd just prefer, if he's there, to let me make an informed decision with my free will.

Well, I could be wrong, but I've never heard of any of these cases (except The Passion of the Christ story). In that case, it's believable as that is an incredibly well-made movie, and I can see it being able to move someone to that degree.

When I say these films won't convert anybody, I'm talking specifically about the PureFlix films I've seen such as God's Not Dead or this film. I listen to Air 1 (a Christian station) occasionally when driving home from work, and I have not heard any of those other stories.

Out of curiosity, what is the source of the God's Not Dead story you quoted above?

Please stop.

reply

Pure Flix has made around 90 movies I read. I've seen around 12-15... They are well made and have positive messages of God and hope, peace and love for mankind. At your local Christian bookstore or online. ī€¹

The dominoes are already falling. Christianity is a dying religion. That's a good thing.

No surprise that the baby boomers flocked to church after their flirtation with atheism. No one wants to die an atheist destined for hell. Thus the reason they incorporated the scene 'Gods Not Dead, with a professor asking God for acceptance and forgiveness. lol Sniveling atheists on their dead beds repenting. Some "dying religion" when repenting takes place nearly everywhere.

On the Contrary, the pure of heart Christians or as I put it "Believers of Christ" are growing rapidly. It use to be just the old people but now, its teenagers and young people too. The Good News is here!

The Good things:

1) For God chose us before the creation of the world. Ephesians 1:4

2) Rapture: "And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other." Matthew 24:30

3) "I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth." Revelation 6:8
In other words, the world should be in chaos until Jesus comes back on Judgment Day.

The People left behind (NON-Believers of Christ Jesus) will have the choice to take the Mark of the DEVIL: 666 or be tortured or beheaded or both.
"It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads," Revelation 13:16 http://www.markbeast.com/mark/bible-mark-beast.htm

This is one of the biggest and vital reasons to be saved ASAP or suffer the consequences.

http://www.whoisthebeast.com/beast/markofthebeast.htm
http://www.endtime.com/666-the-mark/

Anyone taking the mark of the Beast 666 - as a result, renounces God - no changing your mind later.

And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He (Angel) seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil or Satan and bound him for a thousand years. He threw Satan into the Abyss and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore.... Revelation 20:1-3

If this doesn't help you, maybe someone else will stumble across it and it'll help them.

It was never really about religion as much as it's about a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus and growing spiritually.

If it's all about your relationship with GOd leave the gays alone and concentrate solely on your own relationship with the Lord. Let the LGBT community live as they please, and that includes marriage and all benefits afforded to married straight couples. You know, since it's all about your relationship with God.

All I see is some people who look like they're praying. Considering the people who go see this movie are almost always going to be Christians - serious Christians, not just casual ones - this isn't surprising at all. What made you think these people converted?

reply

IMHO, there may be people who convert when they see this or other movies like it, but they will probably have heard something previously or had some experience that has prepared them for God to move on them. I was an atheist for decades, but I was a truth-seeker, never a hate-filled bigot like many of the atheists who post here. (That's not a knock, just an obvious fact.) Anyway, my little brother is the one I will always credit for his words that helped me to open my heart to the Truth, though I wasn't saved till a few days later when I saw a documentary on the evidence for Noah's Ark. I don't give the Noah thing the credit, since I never would have watched it had I not been made curious about such things by what my late brother had said. If you go to this movie looking forward to being able to tear it down, along with all the people who enjoyed it, then I would say your likelihood of being converted will be nil, though with God ALL things are possible.
