I really want to like this show ...

Inspired by Douglas Adams, you want to love it just for that.

I have no doubt that all this random business is going somewhere, and it might make a good binge watch of at least 4 episodes at a time, but so far my favorite character is the holistic assassin (Fiona Dourif, who apparently inherited her dad's very dominant creepy gene). That either says something very strange about me or about the show.

I prefer that it says something very strange about the show.

I just saw (half of?) the first episode of Falling Water (2016) which is also the type of show where bunch of seemingly unrelated things are happening, that are supposed to tie into a nice bow at the end, and I was bored out of my wits by it. I was so bored, I'm not even sure if I sat all the way trough or if I quit before it ended.

Unlike that, this really clicks with me. Sure, I really love quirky characters, but at least it's not a boring watch while you're waiting for loose ends to come together.

I also like most of the characters here, Bart however isn't my favorite, Dirk is, she's kinda convenient. If there's a holistic detective, it takes minimal amount of brain power to come up with holistic criminal too

same I'm kinda dragging through Falling Water, not even caught up yet. it's so full of cliches or typical compared to this show.

People have really short attention spans these days. Childlike.

I read things like Sumerian and Akkadian grammar textbooks for fun (seriously, I do) so a short attention span is not a problem for me. But I had a real problem keeping my attention on this show. It's not the confusion or disjointedness that bothers me; it's the way Dirk looks and acts nothing like the original character from the books.
