When will they ever get this right

Point one

Dirk Gently is not British, it is pointed out early in the first novel his real name is Svlad Cjelli and he is Hungarian and still has an accent.

Point two

Dirk is Fat! He is not a young lithe bloke, he is a middle aged fat guy who wears a long leather coat, a slouch hat and terrible ties.

Point three

He is a conman, thief and liar but is slightly psychic despite his efforts not to be and this is why he does often solves real cases while trying to find non existent missing cats. He can sense ghosts and once worked out that his supervising professor at University is a time traveller.

Point four

Dirk is a jailbird, he went to prison for stealing the end of term exam papers while he was a university. He claimed innocence and said he sold the answers to made up exams to his fellow students, it was not his fault that by coincidence they were exactly the right answers to the actual question.

Point five

Dirks view of Holistic detection is based on two fundamental ideas, thinking like a child and following people who look like they know were they are going in order to get where you need to be.

Picky, picky, picky, Muns. That may be true, but this series is still a HOOT!

1) The fact that he has a British accent is irrelevant. His accent doesn't matter, but his real name is mentioned in the series.

2) Seriously? You're getting up in arms about casting and costume? Does it actually make a difference to the character?

3) Uh huh. And how is this different from the show?

4) Who is to say that didn't happen? Did I miss the episode where we learned everything about Dirk's past?

5) Again, how is this different from the show?
