Glad to see someone else really liked this flick, It was absolutely stunning and amazing with how the soundtrack developed some of the scenes to a higher level of consciousness. I don't really know how to describe it other than it was cinematically brilliant and conveyed a lot of emotion without saying hardly anything.
It was at times a visual splendor, I keep listening to that M83 "Midnight City" that was playing throughout and when I hear the song it transports me to that club scene where the owner and his wife/partner were discussing their future while overlooking the club floor from his private balcony and the club had these really cool huge rotating "Art" pieces rotating and emitting light on either side of the DJ setup up.
I get a rush listening to it and it's beautiful thing/song. Check out M83 if you haven't I'm dropping off a youtube link for M83's "Midnight City" the song from the film;

And having just watched the film "Midnight Special" it's clear that the entire film project was based off the video of the song Midnight City, it was difinitively the entire inspiration for the film. If you haven't see the film Midnight Special then def check it out after watching the youtube vid and you'll see the connection is very direct.
I know you'll enjoy the video at least so at least give it a looksey preferable on a high end audio system if you have one, if not I would recommend headphones as they are the only other thing that can produce the full spectrum needed to
Edit: My only "complaint" is that the movie from the very beginning had you expect some madly intense showdown coming and I felt the ending fell a little bit flat on that part. By no means did it ruin the movie for me tho.
Edit: I had the same exact feeling as you did in this regard, I felt like something was lacking, very anticlimactic in a way, but nonetheless it was a great film. I rated it a 9/10 it was that very thing you speak of that held me back to drop a ratings point off.
