Nia Nal's descendents?

They say that she has descendants in the 30th century (I assume Dream Girl)....
.
.
but if she's a transwoman, how would she have biological descendants?

reply

She may, still have her penis. Not all transwomen go the whole way.

reply

True, but I got the sense it was passed down on the female side, thugh I guess the creators threw that out with the whole "Nia got the powers instead of her sister".

reply

Well that a bigger question as to what you think a woman is. As far as Im concerned the issue of being born in the wrong body is exactly as it sounds. While her outward appearance has male reproductive organs, the DNA that makes up the rest of her is set to female.

You have to look at DNA as a series of switches that have two states, on or off. So imagine a woman, then imagine that a few of her switches are set incorrectly and you have someone quite literally trapped in the wrong body. But would that make them less of a woman? Look at like this, (Im assuming youre a man), if someone could manipulate your DNA and set a few of those switches to off when the should be on or vice versa, and your body became female, would you now be a woman, or would you stll be a man, but with a womans body? Youd still be a man in a womans body, right? So if there was some magical power that only went to the men in your family, youd still get it, because you were still a man. You just didnt have a male body anymore.

Thats the way I assume it is for transpeople. They are what they are, they just have a few switches on when they should be off. So when we are talking about a transwoman, we are talking about a woman. And we are talking about a transman, we are talking about a man.

reply

Her DNA is XY if she was born male. EVERY CELL. Not just the genitals.

You can't change DNA.

reply

If thats the limit of your understanding of DNA, this will be a very long boring conversation for both of us, but mostly for me.

reply

Biological male is male, biological female is female.

You can change your outward appearance and take as many hormone tablets, cut or add any genitals that makes you happy. But you cannot change your biological sex.

A man who transistions into a woman can call herself and dress like any other woman but cannot chage the fact biological he is still a man.

A woman transistions into a man can call himself and dress like any other man but cannot change the fact biologically she is still a woman.

reply

Depends on your definition, doesn’t it? Unless you reduce what being a woman is down to sex organs and nothing else. You’re way of thinking is very limiting.

reply

My definition?

You mean the medical term for male and female not the rainbow nicey fluffy unicorn way that you can be whoever you wish.

I am male, i was born a male, i am a man. If i decided to transistion to be a woman. No amount of hormone tablets, testerone blockers will change the fact i am still biologically male. I have a larger skeletal structure, greater and denser muscle mass, larger heart and lungs, the ability to produce sperm, a prostate, an adams apple, male pattern boldness, greater risk of heart disease, pelvic design completely different to woman, more red blood cell production. All these are traits of being a biolological male. No amount of tablets can remove these no matter what i call myself, what i wear or what surgery i have. This is the same for woman to men, woman have traits that men can not have no matter how much surgery they have.

So this is a not my definition this is a medical definition, not the modern day push to say that men and woman are identical which they are not.

So again;

A man who transistions into a woman can call herself and dress like any other woman but cannot change the fact that biologically he is still a man.

A woman transistions into a man can call himself and dress like any other man but cannot change the fact that biologically she is still a woman.

reply

Yeah, limited.

reply

Please tell me with your medical degree what i posted above is limited?

Are men and woman the same biologically, if you say yes then you are wrong and this conversation is over. You cannot say no because you think DNA is interchangeable.

Let me guess you are one of these that thinks men and woman are interchangable that they are the same on every level, then it is you who have a limited understanding of the human species.

You give no counter arguements just lmited thats your response.

Keep reading those completely unscientific articles on vice and vox they are obviously very informative with false information.

For the 3rd and final time;

A man who transistions into a woman can call herself and dress like any other woman but cannot change the fact that biologically he is still a man.

A woman transistions into a man can call himself and dress like any other man but cannot change the fact that biologically she is still a woman.

reply

like I said, limited. You’ve never thought to question what it is that makes you a man, or gives you the elements that ascribe as male?

Google DAX1.

This is an X-chromosome gene that competes for control of sexual development with SRY, the male Y-chromosome sex-determining gene in mammals (which develop as females if SRY is not expressed). Duplication of DAX1 makes XY males develop as females and it has been described as an “anti-testis” rather than “pro-ovary” gene.

Still think the science is on your side? Because it’s not. You have limited grasp of what it is that you’re talking about, and youre getting weirdly angry about it as though being a man was somehow special.

The truth is that biological beings are far more complex than a dick and a pussy. And honestly, even if that is what you believe, there’s a very real bigotry in how you present it. Something to think about.

reply

You're now talking about mutations and rare conditions that occur in approx 1% or less of the population.

So I guess we can say Nia Nal had that rarity, but the vast majority of "transgender" people do not.

As the previous poster stated, barring a genetic abnormality, someone assuming Nia was born XY she cannot reproduce in the standard, biological way.

Now maybe Brainy developed cloning or something, but that still would create another XY male.

reply

Jesus fucking Christ. I wasn’t talking about it “now”, I’ve always been talking about mutations. Errors in dna. The fact is that there’s no biological reason for same sex attraction, yet it happens. People born with no hands, or spine. So why is it so fucking hard to get your brain around the fact that human beings are not now, nor have they ever been perfect? We get cancers every day. Our immune systems kill us. The list is fucking endless. Is a person being born in the wrong body really that fucking much of a stretch instead of just going down the ignorant route of the precious poster?

1. It’s comic book.
2. I gave you plausible scenario.

The only reason not to accept it is because you have something against lgbt persons. Either way, we’re done here.

reply

You're so off topic.

The topic of this thread is how Nia---self-identified transgender, i.e. born a biological male yet transitioned in childhood to "female gender"---could possibly be a biological ancestor to Dreamer in the Legion, when:

1. The show's mythology has stated that the Dream Power is passed down via females

2. Nia cannot pro-create as a female as she has no female sex organs (ovaries, uterus etc.)

A scientifically sound answer might be that she kept her male sex organs (testes) and thus was able to provide sperm to father a child.....most likley a female, who perhaps carried the Dream power via the Nia's X chromosome.

<<<>>>>

I am an "LGBT Person" myself, so your logic here is quite faulty and belies your own prejudices more than anything else.

reply

And what was the first fucking thing I said that wasnt good enough for you? Being LGBT sure doesnt help with being dumb as fuck does it?

reply

Ad hominem attacks.... the sure sign of great debating skills.

you have not shown how a biological male could be 30th century Dreamer's ancestor.

In contrast, I posited a plausible theory, although given Nia saying she "transitioned" early on, it's unlikely she kept her testicles and thus sperm producing capability.

Maybe if you tried to condense your babbling about rare mutations into a coherent sentence that would explain how Nia could be Dreamer's ancestor, you'd make more sense. i.e.

are you saying Nia is really XX but due to some mutation she "expressed" male in childhood, and thus she really was always an XX and thsu could be Dreamer's great-great-great - grand "mother?" If so, just state that.

[deleted]

You're reply speaks for itself. Get help dude.

reply

Yes it does. Thats what words do, duh. Now, run the fuck along. Go wum somewhere else, because you fucking suck at it.

reply

I started this thread. YOU get the fuck off it with your rude attitude.

And how dare you question my identity Mr/Miss Identity politics hypocrite.

reply

[deleted]

i dnt even know what "wum" means. Probably because I don't live in a the weird echo chamber of your psychotic mind.

reply

"Ad hominem attacks.... the sure sign of great debating skills." Seems its fine for you to do it though, huh?

reply

again, anyone reading this can clearly see who threw out the ad hominem attacks first.

reply

lol the "they started it!" defence. Nice.

reply

again..... doesn't change the facts.

reply

Youre right, youre still a bigoted wum.

reply

Still dont' know what that means.

and newslfash.... having a different opinion from you doesn't mean "bigot".

Saying that Transwomen cannot get pregnant and have children is not bigoted.

Let me guess, you're trans. In which case. that would explain it ALL!!!!!

reply

Who the fuck said it was?

What exactly would me being trans explain? Your bigotry? I hardly think so.

reply

You don't understand what bigotry is. clearly.

Unless believing in science and biology as opposed to modern "queer theory", which by the way many LGBT do NOT subscribe to.

reply

Well, one of us doesnt. And its you. I dont even know what queer theory is but it sounds gay.

Question: how can she have descendants?

Answer: She could still have her penis.

Q:But its only on the female side that get the powers?

A: Depends what you consider to be female or male. DNA is series of on/off switches. So she could very well have switches that are female set to on.

You: Blah blah blah, xy blah blah blah.

Me: Its not that simple, but who cares its a comic book.

You: Blah, blah, blah more nonsense.

You got your answer, but you really want to drive home the point that "shes not really female". Why? Because, youre a big ol bigot, that why.

Oh and I know youre not familiar, so google paraphrasing.

reply

I can read wikipedia as wel.

When a biological male gets pregnant send me a message.

i'll wait for that message never to come.

No male in the history of the human race has become peganant, no male in the future of the human race will become pregnant.

Nesws flash biological men cannot get pregnant, in other news water is wet.

A man who transistions into a woman can call herself and dress like any other woman but cannot change the fact that biologically he is still a man.

A woman transistions into a man can call himself and dress like any other man but cannot change the fact that biologically she is still a woman.

reply

Not very well, apparently.

reply

You haven't refuted anything Sokar said, which are all scientific facts.

reply

Yes, I have. Youre both just too stupid or bigoted to see it.

reply

Oh, the irony!

reply

A classic comeback. Not quite as good as your "Im LGBT, so that makes me right" shtick.

reply

There you again putting words in my mouth. Sane people reading his thread can see who is rational and who is not . Enjoy.

reply

lol

"I am an "LGBT Person" myself, so your logic here is quite faulty and belies your own prejudices more than anything else."

What can we take from this statement. That your LGBT status affords you some insight into genetics that others simply cant grasp? Or that your simplistic understanding of the word "mutation" allows you to infer things about me that cant possibly be true since Im advocating for a transwoman. Muppet.

reply

Wrong again.

you said: "The only reason not to accept it is because you have something against lgbt persons."

I was pointing out how wrong YOU were assuming I have something against LGBT people.

It's funny that you called the other poster (whom you also keep confusing me with) "limited" given your poor comprehension skills.

reply

Oh, Im not confusing you at all.

reply

You've 'quoted' or "replied' to things you think I said but they were actually said by someone else.

reply

Did I?

reply

Late to this conversation and don't watch Supergirl, just came to say that BitchWorm sounds like a retard. There are only 2 genders, end of story.

reply

I think the explanation is that her power has been passed on to another member of their race. Dreamer is not necessarily Dream Girl's biological ancestor but the previous receptacle (Sorry can't think of a better word: maybe progenitor) for the power.
