With Shane's admission of guilt it implies a conspiracy is in place. If so said conspiracy could have had Jocelyn raped in that way in order to have a justified reason for PA to kill himself. That is they killed PA and used her rape ands a cover.

It's possible, but I think it may also be a suicide from the massive guilt that PJ had from knowing she was raped because of him and whatever valuable book he was in possession of.
