How did Pernell's DNA end up on a database?

The vomit (and associated DNA) was KD--their original suspect and connected to Parnell.

The vomit's Pernell's, he threw up when he dumped Shane's body at the other cop's house.

You guys don't seem to understand what the original poster is asking.

In order to identify that the vomit was Pernell's, they would have to have a sample of his DNA to compare it to. We weren't shown any scene where they got a warrant to collect his DNA, and such a thing was never mentioned.

So, again, where would they get his dna to compare with the vomit sample?
