In the episode with the Masquerade there was a moment where he was offered to wear a mask that was the devil. I believe season 2 will explore this . PJ will most likely not be out of his coma but is showing enough signs for everyone to agree that he's getting better.

My theory is Nathan. I think Nathan was going to have Anne killed to cover up the person responsible for the theft of the program and the rape.
I think the black mask offered represented Zanni (who admittedly later morphed into the Devil character) -- Bobo is mayor (the servant), trying to work the Brooks deal (the trickster) and faithful servant to the rich, powerful, and egotistical Pernell (ie Pantalone).
There's also the 'Zanni Running' in one episode when he talks to Crystal, and his stance and foot-shifting throughout the season.
Of course, the longer the nose on the mask, the stupider Zanni is -- since the pilot there's the impression he's getting screwed over without realising. In some ways, it also reflects KD's behaviour.
Perhaps I'm overthinking it, but the season's been fairly heavy with the symbolism.
