Strong start on Heart Shaped Box...then (spoilers)
I really enjoyed this episode, it had everything I love about the show. Lots of quips and repartee, a team-wide acknowledgement of the awesomeness of Turin's mane of hair and progression of the main plot.
But then, it gets much weaker in the final third.
Stuff just kind of felt unsatisfying at the end. It is wildly absurd that even Johnny could get past the superwall and break into Jelco's office. (Which was a epically terrible idea that was destined to fail).
Sabine was all over the place with misinformation/helpfulness. The Dutch/Sabine fight was mercifully brief but kind of awkward as was the following dialogue. And why take the chance that she might heal? Either kill her as an act of mercy, or set her up with transfusion bags of D'Avin's blood to keep her human. That was just weird.
Then, based on absolutely no new info, Dutch decides that the name in the red box is her mirror twin, that she is still alive and Khlyen wants her dead. How do you get all that from the scene we saw? And how do you conclude that Khlyen made the safehouse for Dutch and not himself? The end.
I feel like I missed a bunch of scenes that would have tied everything together. But I watched it twice so I'm sure I saw all there was.
And only 3 episodes left! I was hoping the season would be hanging together a bit more at this point. I'd give the first 2/3 of the episode a 9, and the last third a 6. It is not often they are that uneven.
Hoping for a strong entry next week!
