I can't tell but based on the storyline shown in the short clip, I think it might be about George Trepal. If so it is a fascinating case about an egghead Mensa misfit who thought he could get away with poisoning an entire family and that he was smarter than the police. His wife was no better. But I'm really interested to see how this show deals with this story. It's been covered on American Justice, Forensic Files and other programs. But none were styled with the kind of impact FTN has on people. Can't wait until next Monday!
Fear Thy Neighbour tells it in such a way that at first I thought this was a brand new case, but then I quickly realised it's yet another rehashed story for a new show. Almost all these shows end up retelling a story. Very soon we'll be able to recite them!
This is a discussion forum, not a fan forum. I'm British, my sense of humour is superior!
Yea I'm actually glad they covered this story actually. First of all, no other documentary I've seen puts the kind of personal and impactful spin on these stories as FTN. I'm always so happy when they say "next week's FTN will be on" without saying "season finale!" Really look forward to each new episode. Yes the material itself is sad and tragic. But it's presented in such an addictive manner that one cannot look away. Anyway, though the Trepal case has been rehashed in numerous shows through the years, it has been at least 10 years since I've seen it covered. It was interesting just seeing that Trepal has still not been executed, and at the same time, gratifying knowing that the music is still too loud for him. I also learned a few details I've never before heard about the case. For example, I had never heard about the secret room in the Trepals' new house that would likely have served as a torture chamber and final resting place for the undercover detective. Great job Investigation Discovery. Keep the fascinating shows coming.
I share your feelings about FTN. I think it's an exceptionally well done show. There are actually a few shows I feel that way about, including "Murder Book" and "Murder Comes to Town."
Ironic, isn't it, that Trepal went to all that trouble and is STILL being bothered by music that's too loud?!
Oh, I don't recall ever hearing about the secret room, either. Good work on FTN's part with the details of the case.
