Is it ever possible for things to be prevented by the police?

I know it is hard to referee when you have They said, They said cases. But most of these episodes the police say things started to escalated, at this point they were calling daily on the slightest thing, etc

When you are getting 100's of calls nitpickling about little things, why dont they interview neighbors to see if anyone has something to add, to see who is more at fault causing the drama. During the episodes neighbors interview about who was the one egging the other on or who was on the edge being dangerous.

An example was the episode Red Picket Fences, the man who was the instigator had his young sons out on the lawn in full view of the neighborhood doing drills with rifles. This adult actually chased his neighbors child who was under 10 with a rifle. I think that man should have been arrested and had to turn in those guns because then it is a danger to anyone in the neighborhood. Then the same man, poured gasoline on their porch because he was going to set it on fire. I mean come on, why was he still at home.

Like every other episode it is just sad when you end up with a pointless killing.

These people do not seem to understand, if you do not like the other person then just be cordial as neighbors and you do not have to be friends. It goes too far. My worst neighbor looks like a Godsend next to these people.

Yea, that's another episode made my wife cry....that crazy man was LOOKING for someone to try him. And those people just refused to take it..the guy had an authoritarian job, was military, trust me he Wanted a conflict. But most the times in my experience the cops ignore the serious cases, and take the nonsense ones WAY too far...I dunno, but there's gotta be a better way. And yeah I had a bad neighborhood dispute once, they lied to get me arrested, but in court the Judge threw it out and chastised the accusers in full view of the court. There was nothing there. Just lies. Judge even spoke some kind words to me when I had to go behind the court. Made me feel good. And they walked in staring all of us down and clinching their fists. My friend looked at a cop and said "what about that ? That's the same BS they've been accusing US of? Do something." Cops did nothing...

P.S. Involving cops ALWAYS makes things worse. ALWAYS. But people continue to do it.

An effective police force actually deals with this stuff all the time; they are supposed to get extensive training in dealing with domestic calls (not least because that type of call is where you see the most officer fatalities). What we see on this show are the exceptions where local law enforcement, for whatever reason, is ineffective. This is why the officers who consent to being interviewed usually come off so badly.
