Why does Michael Bay get blamed for these movies?

I hear people say stuff like "those terrible new Michael Bay TMNT movies", but he didn't direct them. He didn't write them. He's just one of the producers.

He's become known as "that dude who makes live-action cartoons". Also, nobody knows the directors Jonathan Liebesman and Dave Green but they know the cast and obviously the producers Michael Bay.

The structure of the two films fit into the oeuvre of Michael Bay's directing style.

He's the most recognizable name involved as far as production goes, his name is at the forefront of a lot of the promotional material, and a lot of aspects of the movie (objectifying Megan Fox while every male character creepily ogles her, forced sexual humor, over-designed characters, racial stereotypes) do admittedly reek of him.

Logan, buddy. It's me, Deadpool! I shot youuuuuu....

Michael Bay didn't even write or direct these, which might be why they're a lot better than his crappy Transformers franchise. I mean these Turtles movies are pretty disastrous but hey, at least they're not torture to sit through, for most part. I mean Megan Fox bouncing on the trampoline in the first movie was pretty hardcore cringe, but this sequel has fewer cringe moments.

Hey may not have written or directed the movies, but a producer still has a lot of creative input in the movie, and it seems like he was a very active producer with this series.

There's no wonder people are getting it wrong when his name is in big, capital letters on the promotional material. He's got himself to blame for people associating him with the films when he shoves his name in their faces through trailers and posters.

I'm usually neutral on MB, so I don't have a hard on hatred for the guy. Revenge of the Fallen being the exception; that sequel was beyond godawful. Even though he's the producer, he was barely involved with the film. I like both movies despite their flaws. The 2014 film is a 7/10, and OthSh is an 8/10. Their way better than what we had to deal with in Secret of the Ooze, III, the Next mutation, or the later seasons of the 2012 cartoon. It sucks that we're not getting a third film.
