How is it possible that Vin Diesel is voicing baby Groot?

I was wondering the same thing. Sure only having one line is fitting because of his "talent". But why on earth pay his quote when basically anyone can voice baby groot. Do they think that VD is a name they need to sell tickets? I bet nobody cares except maybe his fans.

We used science to turn him into a baby and had him do the voices.

That's the thing about Vin Diesel. People think Fast & Furious is his only major income. Definitely not the case.

I fell in love with Groot since I first heard about Guardians Of The Galaxy and I thought Baby Groot was the sweetest character ever and so after seeing Guardians Of The Galaxy with my dad I went out to search for a plush Groot of my own and so I have a Baby Groot plush and my very favorite teenage Groot plush that I got for Valentine's Day this year. It was a surprise to see Vin Diesel provide the voice of Groot and how they made Vin Diesel voice Baby Groot was that they tweaked his voice by speeding it up to make Baby Groot sound cute. But you gotta admit I love it when Groot hollers I Am Groot in his booming voice when he's a teenager

Keep in mind his voice isn’t that deep in real life -- at least compared to how he sounds in most of his movies. In fact, he sometimes sounds... feminine. :) The guy does have some voice acting talent, though. He can get his voice quite high, lol. If you watch some of the footage of him doing the Baby Groot voice, you’ll see that there was less audio processing involved than one might think (I remember Vin himself made that claim before footage of it came out). Probably.
