The least excited I've ever been for an Edgar Wright film

I keep trying to stoke myself up to see it one of these weekends, but honestly, this is the least compelled I've felt to see an Edgar Wright picture, and I absolutely love "Shaun of the Dead," and adore "Spaced." Maybe it's the title (which I think is utterly awful) or the lack of Simon Pegg, but nothing about it screams "must see." For those of you who've seen it, please convince me why I need to bite the bullet, or help confirm for me why I shouldn't be in any sorta rush.

So I went to check it out for myself today. Although reviews from friends and family have been positive I was kinda disappointed. I liked the first half of the film. The setting up of Baby's romance with Debora; Doc's unquestioned confidence in Baby to get his team out after a robbery; Doc's planning for the bank heists; Baby's cool, quick getaways with the police in pursuit; and even the shaky relationship between Bats and Baby. I also enjoyed the minimal dialog as it was like watching a music video to some good beats. But, the latter half turned into a bloody mess for me--literally. I just didn't like all the violence, the pointless gore and the bodies piling up.
I didn't like Baby stopping the car when Bats told him he wanted to go to the diner (where Debora works); Baby's stupid decision to go ahead with the final heist; Baby killing Bats in the car accident; Baby abandoning Buddy and Darling leading to the latter's death; and Buddy turning into the villain killing Doc and hunting down Baby.
So for me it started as a cool and original flick, but then fell into a cliche of past heist flicks with people killing each other and rather boring.

Thanks for the reply mate. Appreciate it.

Baby had to go through with the final heist. He knew too much about it. Had he refused they would have killed him.

This. Exactly.

Directed by Edgar Wright.

Edit: For real though, don't think you need to be in a rush. But it's worth watching.

Appreciate that insight. I'll get to it eventually.

Did you watch it by now?

I loved "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz", pretty much hated "The World's End".

I thoroughly enjoyed "Baby Driver". It is not the comedic genius as the first two mentioned films are but it is highly entertaining, exciting and the chase scenes are really good. Has really good villains too.

The World's End took a couple of watches, but it grew on me.

Maybe it's ... the lack of Simon Pegg

That can only be a good thing! Surely...

I hadn't been this hyped for a Wright joint since Hot Fuzz.
