At the beginning it said the movie was inspired by actual events.

Did anyone else see that?

reply

I didn't but it could have been loosely based on those kidnapped women in Cleveland, OH.

reply

I think this is loosely based on the kidnapping of Colleen Stan.

reply

Am not familiar with that case. I'll have to look it up.

reply

Cameron Hooker kidnapped Colleen Stan by picking her up hitchhiking. He held her in a box for seven years: "The Girl in a Box."

reply

I was not familiar with the name, but after looking it up, I do remember learning about that story. Yeah, this could be very loosely based on that case.

As a matter of fact, Lifetime will roll out their new movie "Cleveland Abduction" on Saturday April 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET, immediately following an airing of this movie. If this is a different case, the question arises: who was the original criminal mastermind and who the copycat?

reply

Actually Cleveland Abduction be on lifetime tonight.

Lara Croft Himiko! The First Sun Queen! This is Yamatai.

I think thst it was loosely based on the John Jamelske case: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Jamelske

reply

Could be. The bunker matches. But the details of the victims do not--at least, not quite.

I begin to think Ariel Castro drew inspiration from Jamelske, and from Cameron Hooker, who kidnapped Colleen Stan and hid her in a box under his bed for seven years.
