(I don't care if I'm replying to a 5 month post.)

QueenfanUSA would certainly have a heart attack over that moment. Too bad that troll isn’t around on Moviechat to aggressively post essays everywhere about this movie's performance. 😂

And now this steaming pile is doing bang-up business in Japan nipping at Coco's heels a full year later!

Can you believe this was a huge hit in the UK and yet Coco was virtually ignored there?

And people say it's Americans that have bad taste?

Now we know why The Boss Baby is getting that sequel...

It's funny how Japan is a bit late to the party for both movies. Both Coco and Boss Baby did certainly seem to be in a very tight race (along with Doraemon) from late-March to early April. But at least Coco did relatively well every weekend over the latter. It even tracked better in Japan compare to some other previous Pixar films like Inside Out and Wall-E. I saw that BB's performance in Japan is even surprisingly comparable to Shrek 2 and it apparently outgrossed that movie in the Dreamworks market.

The BB’s outcome in the UK did seem to play out relatively similar to its domestic performance. It also probably benefited from virtually having no animated competition last spring (Lol!... Peppa Pig got a movie?). Coco on the other hand did had some relatively tough competition this past winter, even in a opening weekend against Fifty Shades....of all things.
