It's a rip-off of Evil Dead 2. Please give it a watch if you haven't yet. ;)

reply

I don't think I've seen Evil Dead 2. I'll check it out. Thanks :)

reply

Wait, First Watch Evil Dead 2 then watch Army of Darkness. (Army of Darkness AKA Evil Dead 3) Every horror movie takes stuff from these movies. The gingerbread men are taken from Army of Darkness. Please watch Both films and get back to me. Youll be glad you did my friend. ;)

reply

I think I'll start with The Evil Dead. It's been a few years. Then I'll watch the other 2. I can possibly pull this off this weekend.

Are you watching Ash vs Evil? Funny stuff :D

reply

Yes, I watch everything. Even bootleg Evil Deads, musicals, you name it, Ive seen it. Let me know what you think. (Evil Dead #1 isnt like the other 2, I enjoy them all)

reply

They were a fun watch. I do get scared, too, though lol.

I did see part 2 before. I can't believe I forgot about part 2. Any reason why they had a new Linda in parts 2 and 3? I'm sure they could have just used footage from the first movie.

reply

The Girls of The Evil Dead all left for different reasons. Some married and moved on and some like "Sarah York" Used a fake name because of embarrassment. Some of the girls didnt even finish the movie because of time restraints. The girls of the Evil Dead dont really matter. All that matters is Ash dispatches Deadites with a chainsaw arm with exteme prejudice. I have new movies to reccomend for you. For a comedy horror, watch: "HouseBound." Love that movie. For another classic Horror movie, Watch "The Thing" 1982 version. Let me know if you havnt watched these flicks yet.

reply

I've watched The Thing, but that was when it was out in 82. I think I was too young to appreciate it maybe. I remember not understanding it. I saw the remake too. I don't think I saw Housebound. I'll look for it. I can't during the week though.

The reason they had to use different Lindas was rights issues. When making Evil Dead 2 Raimi couldn't get the rights to Evil Dead footage to recap to the point where the first film ended (Ash getting attacked by the unseen void), so they filmed a streamlined recap that lead to the same spot of the first's ending so the sequel can pick up immediately after that point. Raimi found the recaps changing kind of fun, as did the fans, so he decided just to film a new recap for Army to keep the charm that the new intro of part two brought.

Ash vs. Evil Dead also has rights issues with Army of Darkness, but it's more that production for Season 1 came so quick that there wasn't time for them to talk to Universal, but the team said that should change come Season 2.

reply

I didn't know there were Evil gingerbread men in Evil Dead 2?

reply

There weren't, but there were mini clones of Bruce Campbell in army of darkness, not quite the same thing going on to be honest.

You could then argue evil dead ripped off the burrowers by that logic. And so on and so forth.

reply

As much as I love Evil Dead, and I do, I wouldn't say Krampus ripped off those films, the gingerbread men were perhaps more of a homage. Evil Dead isn't completely original either. They obviously borrowed from "The Three Stooges" and "Gulliver's Travels".

I'm starting to like the idea of the gingerbread men looking benign. They could look as horrific as the demonic toys or any other monster in this movie, but I think their look corresponds a unsettling feeling just like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man has from Ghostbusters.

reply

Heh. I liked when the boy bit into one and it kind of screamed. They were kind of cute. It was funny as heck when the dog grabbed one, saving her master's behind lol.

reminded me of the 1998 movie Small Soldiers

That whole sequence was simply priceless.
