Omi's final voiceover

Max asked for his family to be given back to him, and for a moment it seemed like Krampus complied.

However, when he unwraps the bell, all the memories come flooding back to everyone involved, and the last thing we hear is Omi's voiceover reaffirming that "Krampus doesn't give, he takes" - implying that the returning of the family we believed we saw, is an illusion.

Next thing we see is the house of the family inside a snow globe at Krampus' underworld lair, confirming Omi's words.

If he had indeed given the family a second chance, and everyone still remembers what happened the night before, wouldn't Omi's voiceover have been something like "I was mistaken, Krampus can also give, but you'll remember it all very well so you'll always believe"?

I think the voiceover was meant to throw us off and leave the ending ambiguous....however I just watched the alternate ending on YouTube and only Max and Omi remembers while everyone else is cheerful and laughing, and there was no snow at the end....so I fully believe the theatrical ending is them in Purgatory/Hell while the alternate ending is supposed to be the good ending
