Cursing the Presents...

Okay, I've been fairly open about wishing some of the language had been watered down... and I know I'm not 'everybody'. BUT that's not exactly what I'm talking about right here.

Now, everything's happened. Max has gotten out of bed and goes downstairs...
When Jordan? says, "Let's open the 'd' presents!" Sort of rubbed me the wrong way. BUT that's the ONLY 4 letter word your hear in the ending. The last one in the whole movie actually. And then they all remember what happened the night before, so the real question is... could her remark have a double meaning? Meaning the presents really are 'damned'... and that's not the 'real' meaning of Christmas anyway. Could her not-slip actually meant she learned HER lesson and that Christmas was being all together and the presents aren't what make the season? Yeah, based on her nasty character it would be in 'her idiom' to make that comment, but could it have been the director's intent to foreshadow the Bell as well with her comment? And that opening presents is NOT what Christmas is about either? Her comment rubbed me the wrong way initially, but after I think about it... could there more there? Words DO mean things and can have effect and weight when said at proper times. And that does seem to be a bit of a recurring theme in the whole movie... think of Max's out burst after the scuffle for his note to Santa. He could have cursed the entire family with what he said. It explains why they took his whole family!
