Final two episodes-spoilers

I thought episode 12 about Christine and her family was one of the best. The acting was great. Everyone's reactions were perfect. Christine had been a daughter who made her family proud: smart, ambitious, a top law student with a coveted internship at a prestigious law firm. But now her family had seen the sex video exposing her as a prostitute and her law career was over. She was clearly uncomfortable coming home for her parents' anniversary party. It seemed like she was primarily there to test the waters to see if there was any place for her in this family anymore or if she even wanted there to be. Her sister was very upset with her but she told Annabel she didn't send the video. Her mother was clearly angry and Christine made no attempt to explain anything to her. It was as if she had already written her mother off. And her mother essentially disowned her, waving her hands and saying, "You were always independent. Well, you're on your own alright." The scenes with her father were interesting. He obviously loved his daughter and wanted to somehow get through all this. She made an effort with him, asking him to dance at the party. As they danced, the look on her face suggested she was sizing him up to figure out if she could still have a relationship with him. As he drove her to the airport, she gave him a going away gift: the explanation that she had not sent the video and that she was only role playing with an ex-boyfriend. He wanted to believe the best about her and she was going to let him do that. But her expression as he dropped her off at the airport suggested she knew there was no place in her family for someone leading the life she had chosen. As her father returned home and futilely tried to defend Christine to her mother, we see Christine using her waiting time at the airport to read responses to her escort website and looking at the men there as potential clients. She was clearly not the girl her father wanted to remember her as.

I thought the final episode was the worst. I did not enjoy the scenes between Christine, the male escort and the creepy client. But every episode had a point including this one. We now see Christine as a very successful escort for whatever that's worth. In an earlier episode, we saw Christine pretend to make a call from a new client's room to a non-existent driver so the client would think she had a form of security. In the final episode we see she now has a real driver, who notes she's had a busy week. She's learning French, presumably to expand her client list. The scenes with the client demonstrate her complete control over him as well as the male escort. The scene opens with the client in a luxury hotel suite and Christine entering the lobby where she's greeted by the person behind the front desk. She goes to the room where he lets her in. But after that session is over, she is alone in that suite as the camera shows us all other rooms are empty. So it was actually her suite, which explains the greeting in the lobby. She controlled everything including the room. The episode ends with her lying there pleasuring herself, which we've seen is the only sex she enjoys. She is making great money as a high-class whore who has no objection to making money pleasing creeps like the last client. I couldn't help but feel sad at what the former darling of her family had become. Considering the last two episodes together, I suspect that was the point.
