So much better than Walking Dead

I don't even care. Z Nation actually feels like there is a plot and it feels like the show is leading up to something greater, like an actual purpose. The world they've created feels a lot more realistic (hypothetically if zombies existed) than any other zombie show.

The characters all feel grounded, they feel as if they experience real emotions; they tell jokes, laugh, poke fun at each other, but also care for each other and all share in their drama together.

The Walking Dead... it's just drama for the sake of drama. It's a soap opera with violence. It's a bad show and people want to believe it's good but nothing in the show makes sense. The characters don't even make decisions that make sense. They just do things to further a plot that is going nowhere!

Everything you wrote is like, your opinion man. This is basically TWD with a whole lot of goofy stuff added in. It's entertaining, but it's not a better show. Wait until it has as many seasons as TWD. I'm in the middle of season 2, and honestly it's been real goofy ever since the zombie baby and blue Murphy.

@Justincblount
I didn't say that anything I wrote was a fact did I? Of course it's my opinion... why else would we all be posting on these message boards if we didn't have an opinion. My opinion is that Z-Nation is thus far an objectively better television show that Walking Dead. Other's disagree, they like soap opera drama.

And like everyone else has already said; The Walking Dead Characters do not operate on reason. The characters don't make decisions that are rational, reasonable, or smart. The characters make decisions based on that the writers of the show are trying to manipulate audience emotion and quell predictions. The show itself is formulaic and boring. It's a soap opera.

once you see fast zombies, you can't go back to slow zombies. znation is real entertainment, and twd drags on just to keep people watching. twd used to be good, but then they realized they could drag on to make more money. znation does not do this. hence znation is more worth your time.

It's very different. I enjoy both equally, but for different reasons.

I like both. But I have to go with Z Nation being the better show. Why?

1) Walking Dead seems to have the same plot as most of the zombie genre. People surviving, yet other humans end up being the biggest threat.

2) There's a goal beyond survival. Murphy's the source of a potential cure and thus there's hope.

3) There are comedic elements. It's not just gore, murder, and mayhem. It's something different. The Walking Dead zombies are the same zombies we've seen over and over again. Granted the cheese wheel and the zombie three wise men were goofy...but what's wrong with a bit of goofy?

4) Our core group of survivors don't seem to make nearly as many bone-headed mistakes as the core group in Walking Dead. Even when Doc is high as a kite, he doesn't make as dumb of moves as some of the Walking Dead characters.

5) No Lori.

I like your list, and number 2 is probably the most important difference, but number 5 made me laugh out loud!

People that don't like The Walking Dead and like this show dont like plot or character development and really bad acting. Fact.

No. I'd say that people that like this show like an ACTUAL zombie show, with a ton of science fiction and horror elements. And what makes you say this show doesn't have a plot or character development? Did you even watch all episodes?

I dislike Walking Dead because it's melodrama. It's twists and turns for the sake of twists and turns. It's a collusion of love stories during the zombie apocalypse. It's absolutely stupid that nobody makes smart decisions in that show.

reply

LMAO... You mean character development where every 8 episodes they completely change the entire personality traits, motivations and skills of characters to suit their half-arsed haphazard writing?

Yeah that's not character development, to me. Consistency is key.

ZNation is a road movie/zombie apocalypse....without taking itself seriously.

It's funny and fun to watch. It's fast paced, unlike TWD which it's plot moves to a snails crawl but not to unravel plot development, but to drag out lazy writing seasons.

The characters of ZNation have a certain logic to each individual that has yet to deviate. TWD characters make decisions that are completely against what their character is about or what they've learned thus far(idiotically so).

I watch ZNation because I actually enjoy it. I watch TWD because it has far more production. The writers for TWD suck immensely; the contrary decisions of the characters to the absurd(though supposedly based in gritty reality) situations, to the insulting cliffhangers and implausible resolutions of said cliffhangers.

After watching an episode of ZNation, I feel entertained and happy; After watching an episode of TWD, 8/10 times I feel like an idiot of got scammed.

I used to give a $h!t, then i took an arrow in the knee.  

Uhhhhhh, I disagree. I can't back this show because it doesn't take itself seriously. I don't understand the goofiness. But if I'm being completely honest I only watched part of one episode and was turned off with the corny dialog and weird characters. I like WD because I'm invested in the characters and story. I think in the context of a zombie outbreak the world would have a more somber and dramatic feel. I think the tone of WD is more realistic than z nation. But Im sure the writers of each show had different objectives. And Both probably accomplished what they set out to do.

reply

Your opinion is WRONG!

Sike, just joking.

But seriously, TWD is a much better show, but Z Nation is growing on me. It's improved since it's meh beginnings. I actually care about the characters now and the writing has gotten better. Yet it has that goofiness and humor that keeps it from being an apples to apples comparison with TWD.

Z Nation gets a few things right that TWD falters at; Z Nation they are always moving. Each episode they are having their own little mini adventure. TWD gets bogged down in one location for episodes or seasons at a time. You are right that Z Nation feels like it's building to something...they are looking for a cure or a permanent safe location. TWD it's obvious they will never find a true safe haven, only temporarily surviving until the next baddie shows up to ruin their day. Each challenge has upped the ante on TWD, but it's not the same as having a goal, so I give Z Nation the nod there too. And lastly, as a huge TWD fan, they could use a little more humor; something Z Nation has in bunches even if some is over the top or ho hum.

reply

I think the producers of the WD take themselves too seriously because of the utter phenomenon of what they created. like a lot of people I like them both but one thing in z nation is you don't have the down episodes, the what feels like filler episodes where nothing much happens, then they go to the big finale. z nation just goes and goes non stop and with a sense of humor. it surprised me quite a bit as I expected it to just be a sort of cheap knock off with a bunch of actors hired for their looks like a lot of shows today
