Season 3 "Murphy's Miracle" cliched and plot holes

The penultimate scene of this episode follows the typical old cliche of a killer who blabs to his victim about his life story instead of just killing the person outright.
Why is it that when it comes to murdering psychos , writers like to have them blab to their victims? So in this case the false postmaster blabs to Sun Mei about his life etc ,as if to add filler and of course give the victim time to formulate a plan of escape.

And that is also a joke - she throws a bottle filled with some foreign liquid at him which splashes on his shirt , yet he stills has the gun pointed at her to which she replies dont move and then she opens the door to let Z's come in who rip him to shreds. I mean , he just stood there when he could have shot her , so stupid. And also how the hell was the door unlocked, when he led her into the basement room at gunpoint ,he clearly locked the door behind them yet she simply pulls the handle to open the door without having to unlock it first.

She grabbed the knife, but he didn't see that as much of a threat since he had a gun, so he didn't shoot her.

But she used the knife to slip the latch on the door, letting the zombies in.

This is not just cliche of the killer blabbing to his intended victim nor is it limited to Z Nation! It seems that Hollyweird just has to have any person holding another person at gunpoint spill their guts about whatever is on their minds rather it's related to the show or not. Too many times, the blabbing person misses their opportunity to rid themselves of their intended victim (good or evil).

The other thing that I hate to see, but it's a constant when guns are involved is when the person holding the gun (police officer, FBI agent, bad guy or guyess, etc.) just has to walk right up to the person they are holding at gunpoint. This tends to occur before the gunman begins blabbing away so that their victim can either find a way to take the gun and kill the original gunman or they find a way to incapacitate the gunman and escape.

Sadly, people do often copy what they see in movies and on TV, but I hope that any training a person might get before turning them loose with a gun would tell them a few facts: don't ever point a gun at anyone unless you fully intend to use it, don't tell them your life story nor listen to theirs, when you pull your gun you need to know what your plan is and carry that plan through until the person is apprehended or shot and incapacitated and don't get close enough for the person to take your gun away from you. Even with a so-called "belly gun" you can still stand out of reach.

So, even though I enjoy the fact that Z Nation does not take itself seriously and I usually cringe when I see people complaining about too many little things that don't fit well with reality, in such cases, I still have my own little list of things that I want to see handled with more care - - we've all got a gripe about something and that seems pretty human!
