This show is a comedy right?

I'm sitting here in Norway watching this show and I can't help thinking that this show was made as a comedy. Almost like a sitcom, just without the audience in the studio. I get the same feeling with this show as I do with "Fear the walking dead." I like it and at the same time I don't...

Not so many jokes for a comedy. I,m tired watching all these fake fights in slowmo. What moron writes this crap?

this show is definitely intentionally campy-ish/funny-ish. it doesn't take itself too seriously like THE WALKING DEAD does (to TWD's detriment IMO). that's a huge part of why i love ZNATION so much.

It serves mainly as a parody to the entire zombie genre, but it has its own core story as well, just to keep the show going. But yes, you are meant to laugh and find some of it absolutely ridiculous and sometimes really corny, that's all intentional.

Just look at this other person that replied to you, he's complaining about the slow motion fight sequences, but they are a parody as well, not just of the zombie genre, but of the action genre overall.
When you can actually start seeing this show as what it really is, you will realize it is extremely creative. There are movie and TV references littered throughout this whole series, most of them are very subtle, but when you pick up on them, it really adds to the show.

Hej Norge!

Yes and no, the show is not a comedy as in the usual sence, but it it supposed to be less serious then for example the drama known as TWD.
The show is inspired by old zombie films, and the style of the show is specific of those kind of films. Think of it as one long zombie movie, like the original Dawn of the Dead from 1978. Once you see the show for what it is, you will start to appreciate all the suble hints and jokes at other movies.

I have no idea what any of you are talking about. The show IS a comedy. It wants to be a comedy, it sees itself as comedy, and it god damn is a comedy. It's not haha comedy, but it is a comedy. Many comedies aren't haha comedies, that doesn't mean they are any less comedies, or unintentional comedies. I'm shocked so many people think the show is only accidentally funny when pretty much all lines are tongue in cheek.

mimosveta, all you did was just say what pretty much everyone on this thread said. no one said it's a serious drama, etc. everyone on this thread basically said the show is INTENTIONALLY comedic at times and does not take itself seriously.

reply

wow, you lack some brain part, right? Everyone else was acting as if show is accidentally funny or questioned if it was a comedy at all. I say it's 100% comedy, and don't get what else people think it is. If that's pretty much the same, then you should be put into a rocket and shot into open space.

I´m not so sure who is lacking some brain part;
it is at least not so clever calling someone stupid who is just stating something which is not so absurd at all.

The Walking Dead is a better show (IMO), which takes itself seriously. But we can't have another Walking Dead. They tried to, and failed miserably, with Fear the Walking Dead. But I prefer Z Nation to Fear because it does NOT take itself seriously - they were smart enough to go the other way with it.

It's not a straight up comedy, but they don't avoid camp, humor, and ridiculous situations.

I like TWD and FTWD to a lesser extent so far but not much, season 3 might be really good, i dont see a difference as far as the quality goes, just the people and location are different... to say FTWD failed miserably while you like TWD doesn't make much sense to me... FTWD didnt start off quite as well but it still has potential...
