Do You Think This Was Pushed Back Because of "Black Mass"?
Do you think Johnny's team and Warner Bros. asked Kevin Smith and A24 for this film to be pushed back to keep all the attention this year on Depp's "Black Mass" and his possible Oscar contention? (A24 is releasing the film, right? They did Tusk)
I don't see any other reason why we haven't heard anything about this film, and it makes sense that if the studio is going to push Depp for an Oscar nom that they wouldn't want another "goofy" role taking away from his portrayal as Whitey Bulger, which I'm almost 100% sure they are going to promote the heck out of as a comeback role for Depp, Oscars love comebacks. Just imagine a film like Mortdecai (critical and commercial flop) being released in the middle of his Oscar buzz, it would kill his chances of being nominated (not saying Yoga Hosers is gonna be like Mortdecai, but we all know it's gonna be weird and may not be particularly loved by the critics).
I could honestly see Kevin Smith agreeing to this as he is a friend of Johnny and A24 agreeing to hopefully ride off Depp's Oscar buzz if he's nominated and release it right after the Oscars in 2016 (I'm sure they don't expect it to be a major commercial success anyway, so they might as well wait and see what happens with Black Mass).
I think this is the most logical explanation since there's still no trailer and it was supposed to be released June 1.
