I used to love Kev smith but this being PG-13 reaks of selling out, kevin smith is an R rated guy always has been. He's already being different with these kind of films so shove that excuse up your ass.
That's funny, it seems like Smith wanted to make this one PG-13, so what you wrote there isn't any different from censorship.

If he wanted to make this PG-13 then let him have that, it's not like R-rating would've helped it. Besides, it was actually rated R but got changed to PG-13 for some weird reason.

It was appealed down from an R to PG-13 with no edits. Same thing happened with Jersey Girl, and he appealed Clerks and Zack and Miri down to R when they originally were given NC-17s (he has had amazing luck with the MPAA appeals board).
The PG-13 doesn't bother me, though the miniature Nazi thing does as it looks so stupid IMO.
He hasn't always been Rated R guy. Kevin Smith directed PG-13 rated movie before. It was called Jersey Girl. This isn't the first PG-13 rated movie from him.
