Kevin Smith's worst film

What drags Kevin Smith’s second entry in his “True North Trilogy”, Yoga Hosers, to a grinding halt also happens to be what dragged his first installment, Tusk, to a grinding halt: Canadian accent buffoonery. Thankfully, in the case of Tusk, this buffoonery was kept, by comparison anyways, to a few scenes and characters – most notably, a Michael Parks / Johnny Depp droning sequence. Yoga Hosers is wall to wall, heavily accentuated and jokingly accented, infuriating. It confuses cartoony and teen-ish fun with one-note cultural gags (the aforementioned accents and even a few puns), and scenes of stretched too far exposition. It’s a wreck to be sure, and a devastating one to boot, but as with Tusk, there is a commitment to finish. A guarantee that Smith will, for better or worse, ride out these nightmares to conclusion, giving us something fully realized, though not fully finesse or fleshed out. And that’s something to applaud, and not in a backhanded, sarcastic manner. Still, I’m afraid what we have on our hands and in our hearts is the worst movie Kevin Smith has ever made: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/yoga-hosers/

You do know that Kevin Smith considers this a movie for children, right? In the Q&A that they showed after the premier I attended, they showed Kevin answering questions from a 9 year old girl. And he explicitly says that she is the audience he intended this film for - little girls/children.

So no surprise that you found it to be teen-ish fun; that's what the intention was.

That doesn't change the fact that its *beep*

That's like your opinion. In my opinion it was lighthearted fun.

Really? A film for "little girls/children" that's rated PG-13. You're as stupid and depraved as fat azz Smith. Unbeleivable!!

reply

Yeah I really don't understand the hate for this movie...the film was made in the style of jawbreaker mixed with a Movie like 2011's detention which both of where for teens...middle aged men seem to be peeved this wasn't made for them

Indeed, it makes Tusk/Cop Out look good in comparison..

Yeah.

Just pack it away with all of the other horrible movies made by celebs to kick off their kids careers. Will and Jada Smith, VanDamme, Bruce Willis, Schwarzenegger etc.

Although sometimes the opposite happens and the children become more as famous or more famous than the parents, such as Martin Sheen, Michael Douglas or Kiefer Sutherland.
