Depp's character Guy Lapointe was hysterical in Tusk.
So yes I will be seeing this, regardless of the blatant nepotism.

shareI saw it last night. Depp was even funnier in this one, I think.
I liked the movie. Realize that this is Kevin's idea of a children's movie (seriously - he said so in a Q&A afterward), and go in expecting it to be broad and silly, even by his standards. Not perfect, but I enjoyed it, and would watch it again (streaming, dunno if I would pay for it again; I'm an old guy).
Depps character is the pits.
shareHe was the worst part about Tusk. The movie just ground to a halt when he turned up for the first time - I think that scene went on for something like 10 minutes! Interminable. It's obvious Smith was so enthralled to have Depp in his movie (even if it was probably for his daughter's sake) that he basically just gave him free reign to do what he wanted, which is a terrible idea. Actors, by and large, aren't very smart and are very egotistical - that's why they need strong directing. The fact that Smith let a character which would've ended up on the cutting-room floor of a bad episode of SNL dominate an entire segment of his movie is bad enough, but to not realize his mistake and actually double down in the sequel? Baffling.
Anyway, Yoga Hosers is virtually unwatchable, Depp's character only compounds the misery. Ralph Garman is sh!te an all.
