What I thought was going to happen at the end/ preferred ending *Spolier

So I have a change I would like to happen to the ending and it's actually what I thought was going to happen going with the theme that if you survive, you can leave. My ending would have gone exactly like the main ending, although Doom-Head would have retracted the knives and put one in his back pockets. Maybe pull a handkerchief out of his back pocket and begin to wipe his face, spits on the ground, then uses the other knife as a pointer. He look back at the van and then to Charly, points to the van "Need a ride?". Cut. Or he could say that and we could see her clenched fist become unclenched.

Tell me what you think. I honestly was waiting for him to say that or something similar. I think it honestly makes the movie better. Since they dont know what to do when someone survives, doom-head would be real awkward about it too like he doesn't know what hes supposed to do. I thought him obviously killing her in the end (no way she could have overpowered him) ruined the whole premise of the movie. Again, let me know what you think or if you agree.

That would be out of character for both of them. So no. She just had all her friends murdered by this group and shes just going to join after seeing what happened to everyone else?...dont think so. If anything itd be cool if hed take one of the knives and give it to her as sort of a fair fight thing.

I take it as he was more mad that he couldn't kill her within the rules so he did it outside them. Cause after all he's a professional.

also don't think it matters about the daylight cause it looked pretty light on traffic around there haha.

I was hoping that if you survive the game they actually keep you and beat you in becoming one of the heads. It would have fit in with the comment of the one guy saying I was just like you.

This is what I was thinking.

I took it as that was the decision that was made by the group didn't need that story getting out.

I think it's left open to interpretation for a reason. Personally, I don't think he killed her, there was no sport in it and he even admitted respecting her. I think he showed up one last time to see what she was made of, and when she clenched her fist and he noticed that he would put the knives away.

But that's just my interpretation, the alternative is just as likely. I think it was a cool ending as is. Either way, I DEFINITELY want to see this guy play a sadistic clown in another movie again.

By the way, I am right behind you.

Yeah see I like to think he didn't kill her because that goes against the whole premise of the movie. He's a professional but he lost so I like to think he maybe helped her or something. Doom head was awesome and makes me want to see Richard Brake in even more. I'm a huge saw fan as well I'd like to see him make an appearance. I think he'd be perfect as a villain and he'd be a level of actor I could see appearing. Thanks for the input everyone.

The look on his face and the laugh and the knives pretty much said he was about to kill her plus the fact that Malcom Mcdowell had said I'll get back to you then we cut to that scene. It was pretty clear they didn't want her to survive and tell that story.

xpert434, i TOTALLY thought Doom was going to ask her if she wanted/needed a ride. another possibility is that i thought that Doom was breaking a rule by not stopping trying to kill her and the rich weirdos had sent in a group of thugs to stop or kill Doom. OR...i thought he was going to give her one of the knives and they'd have a to the death knife fight.

so are we to assume she died from being attacked by Doom at the very end? if she survived there's no way that she wouldn't bring authorities back there.

another hint she's dead as disco is that a Rob Zombie staple is to edit "happy times" with death. as he did earlier in the film and in his earlier films.

I like your thoughts on this. I agree that would have been a better ending. For a minute there though I had a completely different ending in my head while watching it. For some reason I had a Texas Chainsaw vibe seeing her stumble down the dirt road, and for some reason when I saw the van pull up behind them, I thought for a minute the TCM gang would be in the van and she would get in and shoot herself in the backseat. I didn't give it much thought, as I didn't have time to even see if it could work. I know that is somewhat unoriginal and borrows from a completely non zombie film... but man that was a funny thought.

that is literally what i thought he was going to say when he stepped out of his van: "need a ride?"

would have been a better ending.
