to all you hoping for more gore in NC17

I'm sorry to break it to you, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high for a much more violent version.

The MPAA doesn't really have a problem with graphic violence in films since the early 2000's unless it's insanely over the top. If you saw the movie This Film Is Not yet rated you'd know they have a much bigger problem with sex in films as opposed to violence. All of the violence presented in this film has been done a million times already so in regards to the violence, don't be surprised if the NC-17 version only features a few extra frames of gore.

I also read many months ago that RZ's main problem with the ratings board consisted of (no surprise) the sexual content in this film. So expect so see more graphic sexuality as opposed to graphic violence.

I could be wrong but I highly doubt it. Also I just want to say, RZ cutting this movie in the first place so it can play as rated R in one fathom event screening is beyond absurd.

It could've went straight to dvd/vod/bluray in it's unrated cut and he wouldn't have lost a dime.

He already mentioned on facebook that it was both violence and some sexual stuff that had to get cut out. It WILL be more his version for the uncut one. How much more stuff we don't know but I wouldn't count out more gory stuff.

For me though I would like it if most the new content was showing more about the past of the carnies and also the clowns.

I hear ya but I really wouldn't get my hopes up on major missing scenes. There's a difference between a director's cut and having to cut your film to secure a rating. For example, you can have a gory shot where a guy's head is getting chopped off which gets you an NC-17. If you literally trim like a half a second off of that same shot, it can mean the difference between an R and an NC-17. It's absurd. You're talking frames of film that make a difference not seconds or minutes.

This wasn't a studio film where producers were breathing down Zombie's neck to cut the film differently or cut out scenes. He had total control other than cutting out stuff that was too extreme for ratings board.

A true director's cut is usually a version that consists of whole missing scenes that are now included, alternate versions etc. This movie was shot in only 20 days. I'll bet almost all of the material is on the screen already. I'm curious to hear what the difference is though. I highly doubt I'll see it anytime in the near future. I wasn't a fan of this film and really don't have a desire to see it again regardless of how much extra gore is added.

tbickle, you are just a total buzz kill, and also, it looks like the uncut edition will be 2 hours plus, so it's definitely have TONS more gore

lol 2 Hours plus?? Where did you hear that? A movie like this would never be over 2 hours long. Do you really think there was an extra 30 minutes on the cutting room floor? What in gods name would it even consist of?

This movie was boring as hell at 1hr 45 and where do you see tons of more gore fitting in? Trust me man, I'm sorry to be a buzz kill but I guarantee you, it will not be what you're hoping for. RZ is the buzz kill not me. Blame him for not making the movie he should've made and/or released to the fans.

I'll say this for the third time on these boards, just look at Eli Roth's Green Inferno. If you haven't seen it, there's a scene where a guy's tongue, eyeballs, limbs and head are all hacked off one at a time. It is by far and away, gorier and bloodier than ANYTHING in this film.

The MPAA gave Green Inferno an R rating.

I'm just stating facts about the MPAA. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and you get an amazing 2hr and 20 minute splatterfest. I will be the first person to come on here and apologize.

I will check the length of the director's cut before I rent or buy it, maybe it'll be CLOSE to 2 hours at the very least, maybe 1 hour and 55 or 56 minutes tops

So from my understanding now ... not only has a tame NC-17 version not been released yet, but apparently there is no NC-17 version available period?

I hate to say I told you guys so, but -- seriously, if you want to see the scariest/goriest scenes in a horror movie in the longest time, go see Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge. I've never been more serious in my life. It makes 31 look like It's a Wondferful Life.

So??? It's a pi$$ing contest, then, or something? Black Hawk Down, Stalingrad and Idi I Smotri make that HACK movie look like the teletubbies in comparison...
