Didn't deliver what was promised.

Where is the gore and violence? Where is the shocking, brutal and offensive that Rob was talking about all this time? I don't mind the bad acting and poor cinematography but I was expecting some descent amount of violence and practical effects. Horror movies with far more less budget have much more blood, prosthetics and creative ways to shoot horribly violent scenes. It just needs imagination and love about what you're doing and this movie looks to me like Rob didn't gave a single *beep* and just wanted to get over with. I'm not saying this is what happened, but what it looked like.
I saw 'Green Room' the other day which is not a horror film, and it had two scenes that where more bloody and shocking than the whole '31' and that is really dissapointing when your last name is 'zombie'.

Well, he was forced to send it to the MPAA three times before he could get an R-rating because they kept telling him it was just too violent. But he has promised that an unrated version will be released on DVD/Blu-Ray with all the violent content left intact. I don't know when the DVD/Blu-Ray will be released just yet but you may be interested in watching it when it is.

I know about that but I'm not so sure if the MPAA's problem was the gore (I think the offensive language is more important to them), the remake of Evil Dead got in theaters and was much more gory. I'm going to watch the dvd but only if I read first that there is uncut material that makes a difference, but to be honest with you, I don't think it will. I mean, the clowns are supposed to murder them with the most violent way possible and all they use is knives? And all they do is to just stab them in the back? Ok, except the brothers (which were my favorite part of the movie) but they didn't make a big of a mess either.
The thing is, this movie was partly crowdfunded by Rob's fans and was supposedly made for horror fans, not a generic audience, horror fans who are used to blood and want more.

I'd honestly rather get an uncut version of House of 1000 Corpses. I seriously doubt a little extra gore can save this terrible movie.

To extend your "didn't deliver what was promised" even further because I agree with you, the whole "maniacs dressed as clowns" hype was nearly non existent. All the poster and promo material featured crazy ass looking clowns everywhere... we really didn't get that.

I loved the first promotional artwork for the movie. It was like 'K.C.F.O.S' got serious. It got my expectations high, but unfortunately we didn't see it in the movie. As I replied to 'TheFoukeMonster' above, the only part of the movie I liked was Psychohead and Schizohead cause they were the only ones that actually looked like clowns and had chainsaws. It was a shame that they didn't used them properly.

It's tame because this whole thing was a scam. He got crowd funding since no studio wanted to produce this garbage. He got free reign to make the nastiest movie he could think of, and what's he do? He submits it to the MPAA three times to secure an R rating.

Why?! The movie has already been paid for, there's no studio waiting to recoup their expenses. All money made goes back to Rob, so he made sure this was tame enough for theaters then promised an uncut version later. Which from the Blu Ray details, isn't happening anyway.

He used his fans to produce a movie in order to make money, not to put out a good flick or appease the backers. He's a *beep* tool and people should stop supporting the dreck he puts out every few years.
