How I interpreted the ending

First few times seeing 31, I always saw the ending as...

In the film, Malcolm McDowell's character is undecided on what to do with Sheri Moon's surviving character. We then cut to her walking down the road, Doom-Head pulls up in his van, gets out, approaches her, she balls her fist, he draws his knives & smiles.

I figured McDowell had ordered Doom-Head to retrieve/kidnap Sheri, bring her back to the facility so they can start the process of brianwashing & training her into becoming a new 'Head'. It's hinted earlier in the film that the other Head's were previous victims-turned-villains. So I thought an idea for a sequel could be Sheri being turned into a mentalcase in preperation for the next '31', only for on the day, her to turn the tables on her captors, save the new batch of victims and wipe out all the antogonists, climaxing in an actual fight to the death with Doom-Head.

But I just listened to Rob's commentary and I was wrong lol Doom-Head kills Sheri right there & then. Whoops.
Still hope we get a Doom-Head spin-off movie at some point.

I really didn't like doom head, thought he was overacting, but was creepy. His look was. Yes, good idea you had but yeah she was a goner, so either they ordered him to kill her or he was that keen on killing her on his own, but yeah they wouldn't want any survivors.

How is it hinted they were victims turned killers

reply

Well Schizo-Head begged for mercy, screaming that he & his partner were once victims who are now forced to be murderers. But that means nothing cause I literally just watched the doco which showed the actor flat-out asking Rob if the line is true, and Rob says "no, he's evil and just trying to save himself" lol.

reply

Hahahhaha you believed him? These people are pure evil. There gonna lie

reply

That and they made a point of saying she was the first ever survivor. They couldn't be survivors as well if she was the first.

No spin offs, no sequels. Let this crap movie die.

I liked your interpretation. It would've been cool to see her take down DoomHead, take some of his blood and smear it on her face, go back to the facility with his corpse, and start her new life as a Head. All during "Dream On" by Aerosmith!

I'm so scared your little head will come off in my hands!

Yeah that's what I was thinking, that he would try to recruit her since she decimated their staff and she has nothing left anyway 

Futility.
Throughout the movie the victims and survivors feel hope in the face of extreme adversity. First opponent is half their size yet hell bent on killing - they manage and it strengthens a sense of hope. The brothers seem impossible but they manage still, and same with the love duo. This all culminates to Charleys life, being in the hand of doom head. He strangles her, but lets go - inspiring "hope". He's about to cut her but game is ended, she's free! Yet... he catches up to her outside of the game, her anger/instinct or whatever makes her ball her fist yet he has knives and she's dead tired. It's a futile situation, she WILL die, after all. This denoted by the soundtrack driving the futility of the situation home - will her balled up fist help her live on...? "Dream on".
