Nowhere near as edgy as it believes it is

Is this the kind of movie people are asking for when they constantly want everything to be "dark and gritty"? This movie is filthy, but never in an enjoyable way. The victims are largely unlikable and loathsome, the attempts at being audacious are really shlocky and everyone has to swear in every single sentence as if it makes them all super edgy. The villains are the type of characters you'd expect from a 90's Marilyn Manson video, which might have had some appeal 20 years ago but it's dated and totally uninteresting in 2016.

I know this is meant to be a "callback", but all it really does is make me wish I watched the movies it is paying homage to instead.
