Picked the wrong lead.

Mild Spoilers

You can keep Sheri in the movie. We get it, it's fun to cast people you like. Killing her off half way would have been such a nice twist though, no? It'd give that nice "there's a real chance nobody's making it out alive" feel to the rest of the movie and would have given space for...

MEG FOSTER to the lead the film. The heroes were all pretty underdeveloped, but hot diggity if Ms. Foster didn't bring her A game to the movie. She sold that business and would've much more believably held her own against "the heads". IDK. I really liked her in this and wish she'd made it.

reply

Completely agree. I was rooting for Meg Foster's character right off the bat.

reply

Omg I agree! I loved Sheri, but I really wanted Meg to be the final girl :(

reply

(sigh) maybe next time.

Watched this a few hours ago with a bunch of friends and we all agreed Venus was the best character and should have been the lead over Charley. It would have made the film much better and less predictable.

Her exit was a let down too, she was bad ass and took out a nazi, one of the chainsaw dudes and the big guy and then she dies at the hands of an overacting Richard Brake. Weak and underwhelming.

reply

She killed like three of the heads... and then to have her not look behind her on the closed lock door was some *beep* I love Meg Foster.

reply

it killed me. They made lots of crappy decisions in that movie and it always felt like the script moving people around to wherever they needed to be instead of just what people would do

Richard Brake was the best thing about the movie, his acting was phenomenal.

Thats what i love about these high school girls, i get older they stay the same age.

reply

I respectfully disagree. I found him really annoying rather than scary or intimidating. I normally like him but I didn't at all in 31 sadly.

reply

Same here, he was incredibly annoying with his wannabe craziness. And his dialogue (can't blame the actor for those lines but even in delivery...)!

"I need to work on my person to person demeanor." and more redundant lines like these.

Other offenders are Pepper saying, "I bet this food is laced with rat poisoning." and one of the ladies in charge saying, "...a better show from the remaining remnants.".
Oh the cringing!

We've met before, haven't we?

reply

I was not expecting to root for her as the final girl due to her more 'mature' appearance but Rob really knew what he was doing casting her as the friend. I am a big fan of Sheri, so I think a perfect ending would have been the two girls making it out alive, from teamwork of course. That would have been more satisfying, at this for me

reply

my perfect ending would of been Sheri Moon and Doom Head ending in a draw. I loved the way she knuckles up at the end like some *beep* about to go down. I didn't think she could really take Doom Head in her current state but I wanted him to die.

reply

how would a draw have come about?

reply

Agreed. The reason we all feel this way is because Meg actually brought some depth to her role, if not the best actor in the whole movie...Sherri was just awful and annoying (her whiny voice is like nails on a chalkboard!)

reply

And usually I don't mind Sheri. I actually really tend to like her a lot. But here her character was pretty basic.
