Such unlikeable characters!

And not unlikeable in, like, an anti-hero, Hannibal Lector way. They are always paper-thin with potty mouths. The only character Rob Zombie has written that I felt ANY connection with, was Heidi (and maybe the Hermans) in Lords of Salem. And I didn't particularly care for the movie!

We have a similar aesthetic, so every time Rob Zombie comes out with a new movie, I get excited. However, this may be his worst yet! I lasted about 15 minutes and was so annoyed by what I'd watched that I turned off my tv and picked up a book (not that there's anything wrong with that, I love reading). Gross characters, stupid jokes, bad teeth, and just really deplorable story telling in general. He does so much better when he directs other people's scripts!

They're coming to get you, Barbara!

I did like Venus, Meg Foster's character. She took on sort of a motherly role and seemed like a good person. All the characters to me gave off a vibe that they'll talk smack and make fun of each other, but when the "you know what" hits the fan they still have each other's backs. Although they were all kind of sleazy I do feel the characters had a real chemistry.

Can't disagree but Rob Zombie films are always all about the villains. These are the only characters who seem to intrigue him. It's a shame he doesn't flesh out (no pun) more interesting and layered main characters. I didn't care at all when any of the characters died. The villains hold your interest consistently though.
