7.4 seems pretty harsh

About to start episode 8. Really enjoying it so far, would give it an 8-8.5/10

I know it hasn't got many ratings but still surprised by how low it is. Assuming only the French have really seen it, I wonder how much of it is down to the fact that they decided not to film in French?

Guess I'm just curious what people don't like about it, as the one negative review on this site is pretty useless.

Glad it has a S2 and hopefully it gains more popularity as the BBC pick it up next year.

Only 489 votes as of 2day & has gone up to 7.5. Also, only 6 user reviews.

I watched the whole season & it picked up for me about ep 4 or 5.

The sound track is amazing.

The acting, writing/story, directing are gre8.

I love historical dramas & this quickly rose to the top. Better than Pillars of the Earth & World's End.

The only other French court historical drama I currently know about is Reign on The CW. This show is more the adult version.

Can't wait for season 2.

Louis XIV ruled in France in the 1400s. Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I intrigue took place in the mid 1500s.

Louis XIV was born in 1638 and died in 1715.

My apologies, I really thought he ruled in the 1400s. Better just to remove that slip altogher.

I just realized I was thinking of Charles VIII who ruled from 1483 -1498.

The first two eps were a bit slow, so people with no patience probably rated it poorly, but after ep 3 then it started to pick up the pace.
I wasn't too impressed by some of the writing (and that short slo-mo sequence in the last ep was execrable) but overall then 8/10 for me.

If the opposite of Love is indifference, what's the opposite of Hate?
