Love this show

I am really enjoying this series, and with only two episodes left to go in the season, I am so glad to hear there will be a season 2. I love the intrigue of the court, the acting is great, as are the costumes and sets.
I know this is entertainment, so some playing around with the 'facts' is to be expected, but the PC that has the King's doctor being a woman is unnecessary, in my opinion.

The characters are amazing.

Yes. I especially love the Henriette character, and her (sometimes awful) husband, Phillipe.

I loved this too. But, it is historically VERY inaccurate. Doesn't get in the way of telling a good story, however. The court of Versailles was a filthy place, disease ridden, excrement in the corridors, etc. This version paints a very interesting picture, and entirely wrong.

I read about that being the case, but I don't think anyone would want to watch a show with excrement all over the place. Sometimes inaccuracy can be a good thing.

Was this due to dogs or human in their chamber pots, or actual humans taking a dump in the hallways?

but I don't think anyone would want to watch a show with excrement all over the place.

I would have loved that level of detail... :)

Did Louis know?

[filthy place, disease ridden, excrement in the corridors]May be at the time of Marie Antoinette. At the time of Louis XIV it was stil emerging from his dreams, poetically speaking.

I agree. I wasnt happy they got rid of Henriette so early in the show, especially since she bore her husband three children. Would have made for some interesting complications.

who did phillipe remarry?

reply

According to history he married Elizabeth Charlotte, Princess Palatine.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!
