Should have called it........

Carry on Louis XIV.

I have to say that after getting halfway through episode 1, i began to expect every scene to turn into a sex scene. I really cant see myself getting through to the end of this series.

Agreed! Haven't a series this stiffly acted since Indian Summers ...

George Lucas talking about: 'Hey, give it to me, I'll fix it. I'll make 20 more of them'

I watched the whole series. I wasn't a fan of the sex scenes myself but there is a whole lot more to the show (and while they don't stop entirely there are significantly less of them as the show goes on)

Sex was definitely a part of Louis XIV's court. I don't really think they could have left that out but maybe it could have been presented in a different way.

Yes, he and his cousin Charles II were pretty notorious for their numerous girlfriends, so it's hard to see how you could gloss over the subject. And Monsieur (though he married twice for dynastic reasons) preferred men.

Considering all the nudity in a sexual context, I was a bit surprised at the coyness in a non-sexual hurt/comfort context: Queen Anne was shown in a bloodstained nightdress (which makes her carers look negligent and would be awkward and painful for dressing changes), rather than with her breasts in bandages, or having them tended. (Her ordeal with ulcerating breast cancer is well documented.)

Gaz911, didn't you mean "Get It On Louis", I was slightly startled by how graphic the first sex scene was! Lol!
