George Blagden: From Athelstan to King Louis XIV--wow!
Night and Day. Great acting range,
shareFew episodes in and I thought it was James McAvoy as the King. Either way, both incredibly great actors. Impressed.
shareCurious how tastes differ. I find Blagden inert and zombie-like. He plays Louis like a Foxton's estate agent.
Alexander Vlahos has far more presence and weight as the brother.

He put me off after 15 minutes and I checked out. Is it worth persisting with this?
shareI missed the first one entirely, thought the second one was silly but sort of car-crash watchable, gave it second chance for the third episode, and then gave up. It's just not very well-written, not very well cast, not very well acted, and hasn't the style to to get away with its sensationalism.

You're a better man than me Gunga Din. The Babe has her telly booked for Wimbledon but she isn't well so I was able to smuggle in H VI II this afternoon until she noticed five minutes from the end. I have the impression now that the series flatters to deceive, so much has been cut, compressed and combined.

Absolutely agree. Every actor and actress that acts opposite him steals the scene. He has the charisma of a wet noodle.
shareOMG that's where I know him from!! Vikings! Great actor for sure.
