You can always tell when people are 'dressing late 80s/early 90s'

...instead of being more authentic. If you watch the real show or any other TV show from 1987-1995 time like Full House or Family Matters, then you can see how people really dressed from the late 80s through even the mid 90s. Which was basically the Saved by the Bell era, especially if you include the college years and even the New Class.

But from the clips I've seen it just seems a too exaggerated, even by the stupid cheesey Saved by the Bell standards. The cast looks like they are going to an over exaggerated 80s themed party instead of how it really was in 1989 or 1994.

I'm always the first to nit pick when it comes to costumes not looking the right the period. Like The Carrie Diaries for example. However I think that in this case if anything they have toned down how over the top 80's everything looked in season one.

The first season aired in 1989 and when you watch it there is every late 80's cliché in the book. Bright neon colours, huge shoulder pads, acid-wash jeans, big hair, leg warmers, unflattering mom jeans etc.

isnt it weird how 1980 white clothes are the same as 1990's black clothes, think it was like a thrift store thing?

I can always tell because the female reinactors won't cut their bangs and/or fluff/curl/spike them up with 2 cans of hairspray! I remember doing this along with most of my friends even in the fifth grade!

When there is no more room on IMDB, the trolls will wheel to 4chan.

My bangs were awesome back then. The side fins too. I bet I put Aquanet on the dang map.

haha, yep - every morning the first thing I did when I jumped out of bed was plugged in my curling iron so that I could curl my bangs up, lol.
