Money?

This movie stinks of money issues. Was Bacon paying back a debt to someone who booked his band? Did they run out of financing and turn a dark comedy into a thriller? The entire film felt like it was editing by an orangutan and was missing key scenes. Not a single thing in the entire film is explained. There is no back story as to why a single thing happens...not one. Also, who did wardrobe? Seriously, there's nothing good to say about this film other than Shea is pretty funny. Maybe it's because he looks and acts like Steve Zahn, but who knows. This movie is thankfully only 80 minutes. It's horrible. Bacon's worst?

Kevin bacon is a multi millionaire who does not have money issues.

It was just a thriller, not a single bit of comedy in it.

Wardrobe? WTF are you on about?

Backstory is not needed. No key scenes missing. The film is easy to understand and the editing is fine.

I do think some of it is meant to be funny. A lot of the kids' interactions and scenes like the trunk guy trying to hide were clearly there for comedic value.

I agree that running out of money would have nothing to do with things not being explained. They obviously didn't think it was necessary.

You do know that was heavily laced sarcasm, right? Kevin Bacon was the producer, so he probably did the film for the SAG minimum.

It was absolutely a dark comedy, with numerous homages to the Coen Bros.

Wardrobe....the Sheriff's uniform was straight out of the 70's and 80's, while the troopers, in his jurisdiction (remember he calls in the disturbance) are in modern day uniforms.

Backstory isn't needed, if you don't care why the kids took off, but the movie isn't about the Sheriff and the bad guys, it's about Harrison's coming of age, so yes, why he's the follower and why he's followed his friend so quickly is relevant.

You might want to see some more films, before commenting. Seems you're a little out of your element telling people what was perfect, despite not giving a single example.

If you were being sarcastic, then you want to improve your writing skills, as what you wrote had no sarcasm in it.

It wasn't a dark comedy, even imdb just lists it as 'thriller'. For a start there was nothing funny in it, so where was the comedy? I mean, I laugh at the exorcist, but that doesn't make it a comedy.

The sheriffs moustache was also straight from the 70's, his uniform is exactly what it is supposed to be. There are a large array of valid police uniforms in USA, and he was wearing one. Is that your only evidence of wardrobe issues? Pretty pathetic.

The film isn't about backstory, just watch the kids reactions to the sheriff asking them about their home lives, it's pretty obvious from very little why they run away from home. It's subtle and went over your head, you should watch more films perhaps?

Where did I say this film is perfect? Learn some reading comprehension.

You're killing me. I mention the movie being done to pay of a debt for booking his band and you don't understand the sarcasm?

It is a dark comedy. Bacon has said, Watts has said it, Wigham has said said. It's a genre bender. It's Thriller, Dark Comedy, Film Noire all the way.

It was in fact done on a tight budget with an entire crew of 15. It doesn't take place in the 70's, it takes place in the present. Last I checked they didn't have cell phones and laptops in their cruisers in the 70's.

Listen, you liked it, I didn't. Get over it. I think you missed a lot of the point of it, but good for you, it made the movie worthwhile. Also, you might be interested to know, the director and Bacon said, "the choppy editing was done to create an end to each destination in the film, one that couldn't be returned from." So while you enjoyed that, I noticed it and it was a distraction for me.

People watch movies differently. You're more of a surface watcher and I delve deeper. I found holes, which ruined the movie for me. Be happy you don't watch movies like this, it tends to ruin a lot of them.
