Who is this movie for?!

What is the target audience?
Kids? I don't think so. It would be pretty irresponsible to let kids watch this movie.
Adults? Okay, but adults that are fans of WHAT? Movies about 10 year olds hanging out and doing reckless things?
What genre is this movie? It's not really drama or action.
My point is this movie is so strange. I don't think I've ever seen a movie like it - and I don't know if that's a compliment.

Don't think too much.

It's a thriller. For people who enjoy thrillers. This wasn't a very hard film to grasp.

reply

I love thrillers. This was far from a thriller even though that is what they are marketing it as. If I had to label it anything (other than trash) I would probably label it an action movie but there wasn't a lot of that either

Why do you have to pigeon-hole it into a simplistic category?

I watched this film with my parents, in their living room. There was some awkwardness at the start when the kids are basically just repeating swear words to each other, I think my parents were thinking "what the hell are we watching here, this is irritating as hell". When the story warmed up a little we all got into it.

By the end my parents were still saying "what a weird movie" but they basically enjoyed it.

Just because there are children in a film doesn't mean a film is intended FOR children...

This is one intended for adults that are not too demanding, and easily guiled, and can't differentiate between style and substance. If that describes you then you are the intended audience.

What about if you're a child psychologist? You're an adult with an interest in kids, then (and hopefully not for dodgy reasons!)

The point is that just because you're an adult, doesn't mean your concerns always have to be... Adults might watch this to see if it matches up with any of THEIR experiences when they were kids, or not.

I'm 28 and loved the movie. Very similar in vibe to "Blue Ruin". A shame it never got a wide releaase. Not only the kids, but Bacon gave a really good performance.

It was for people with good taste in film.
