First batch of prisoners processed (spoilers)

... at the beginning of the movie came with their belongings (including wallets and valuables) and didn't seem to know the Nazis were lying to them. At least they stripped and went into the "showers" without exhibiting distress, other than a couple at the end of the sequence.

Someone said that these people had come from another Camp.

Would it make sense for them to have their belongings and not be freaked out?

That's how they always did it. They brought them into the 'showers', telling them they had jobs for them, ect. They tell them to keep remember their hanger number so they can get their belongings after the 'shower'.
Nobody wants to believe they're about to be executed so most of them believe what they're told. It wasn't a well known fact that the exterminations were going on, because nobody got out to tell anybody. At least this is what the last Sonderkommando survivors told the world.
