Mia is complaining that her interviewers didnt give her a real chance to show her acting skills etc.
Yet I find it funny that she pretty did the same thing with the guy at the pool party. After 5 seconds in the conversation she cut him semi-rudely to say she was gonna grab a drink, clearly not interested to pursue the conversation.
A casting director is supposed to actually pay attention to the actors who are auditioning in front of him or her, but Mia was on her own time.
shareI agree a casting director has more of an obligation but she still acted harsh on the guy. He's still a human being and she did not need to be overly rude, at least the way I saw it.

My straight female friends tell me that if they try to turn down a straight man in a way that is kind, polite, and inoffensive, he will assume that she's just playing hard to get and step it up rather than going away. To get a man to actually go away, she has to be firm, or even rude.
I think the best tactic is to be polite but to insert a reference to your husband or boyfriend, real or fake, as soon as possible, so you're not hurting anyone's ego but you're still making it clear you're unavailable. The same applies to guys tbh. I've done the same thing in order to dissuade a woman without hurting her feelings.
sharetotally agree with that. As a guy, a simple reference to a husband or boyfriend is a clear message she's not avaible or she's not interested and I move on. Mia wasn't in a bikers event or in a bar full of drunken people. She didn't have to be rude like that to make her point. Had any girl being rude like that with me, I would remember it for sure.

Like most people they could be jerks (Seb was very rude to Mia during the first two times he encountered her, and Mia is shown ignoring one of her customers at the coffee shop she worked at). But we still root for them because they're mostly good people with the types of dreams and ideals many of us can relate to.
Anyway, the guy at the party wasn't left hanging on his own. He was with Mia's friend at the time so it's not like he was left looking stupid.
Because the guy was an asshole, touting his own self importance.
