One of the worst films of all time?
I admit, I haven't seen it in its entirety but I have seen clips and have stayed watching for some minutes when it's on cable, and yikes. This is very bad.

shareIt's a pleasant and enjoyable film, fun if you like musicals and don't try to analyze it too closely.
Not the best ever made, but if you think it's anywhere near the worst ever made I advise you to look into a man named Ed Wood.
I don't consider Ed Wood, that is below actual filmmaking.
shareEd Wood's film biographer, Tim Burton, has made films that are worse than "LaLa Land"! Almost every major director has, Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick excepted.
It's not a bad film, not at all, it was just grossly overhyped during Awards Season.
oh really? what tim burton film is worse than la la land?? and it is a terrible film.
shareOn, "Alice in Wonderland" and its terrible sequel, "Dark Shadows", and "Mars Attacks" at least. i'm sure there are worse ones, but damned if I'm going to look up a list or anything.
"LaLa Land" is a nice film, very enjoyable if you have a sense of fun. Which might be why you hate what you've seen, it doesn't sound like your cup of bitter tea.

A good point, Otter.

I don't even know why I bother to click on posts like this... You always know it will be utter horseshit.
shareIf you have not seen it in its entirety why should we take your opinion seriously?
shareListening to Emma Stone singing (about to end) Audition (The Fools who Dream). This should have been #1 and the Oscar winning song. After all, it was SUNG by the Oscar winning actress EMMA STONE!
shareThere were a couple of clearly better actress performances that year...
Portman for Jackie
Chastain for Ms Sloane
Portman was terrible as "Jackie".
shareDid you mean terribly good? π
shareNo, I mean terrible, as in not good acting.
There's a difference between an actor who's playing a person who's stiff and reserved, and an actor who's trying so hard to maintain their accent that they're actually stiff .
Has anyone seen the French film "Elle"? Isabelle Huppert was absolutely terrific in that and should have won the oscar. She did win the Golden Globe.
shareThis guy probably worries that if he likes it he will be considered gay. Fear of musicals, you know.

Not one of the worst of all time, just mediocre imho. I did feel sorry for the cast and crew though, when the Oscars fucked up the announcement of Best Picture last year. That had to be the worst fuckup in Oscar history.
π
Maybe one of the worst to be nominated for best picture.
