Best IMDb Alternative Forums...

Just an FYI so people know there are some alternatives.

There's a few that have popped up so far - it's never going to be as good as IMDb but at least we can continue the discussion. It's best if the most people are in the same place. I'm sure they will evolve as IMDB goes away.

Thanks, I really appreciate this information. For me, for years, checking the message boards on IMDb has been a part of seeing every movie.

If anybody is interested in another movie database with dedicated boards for every individual title and person, there is a website called TMDB (https://www.themoviedb.org/talk) that recently added message boards for every specific movie and person (example: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/149871-kaguyahime-no-monogatari You have to click on the little word bubble icon on the top left of the movie's page). A bunch of people from IMDb have already gathered at their general boards and and are discussing ways to increase activity and serve as an alternative to IMDb.

I encourage everyone to take a look at this site. I think it looks very promising. It's the only other site I know of with message boards for every movie, actor, director, etc.

I also encourage everyone to spread the word about this site, as it seems most people don't know about it.

This and Rotten Tomatoes seem like the most likely replacements for IMDB right now. Most of the boards for movies on these sites currently have 0 posts, but that will come in time if enough people make the switch.

The issue with Tmdb is they don't have the archives. Sure, people will comment there in new movies. But going to old movies and seeing the history of comments isn't there. Thank goodness for moviechat!

It's sad but there is no alternative.

Message boards don't work so that you can quickly find topics. So, you want to talk about some movie from 1970, you will never find it, and so no discussion about that.

Someone would have to invent a site just like this, and that has not happened.

IMDb must be feeling stupid right now, because all these other message boards is being publicized on there website.
They have miscalculated how we feel about discussing movies, they will lose a lot of users.
This is a dumb decision by IMDb.

That thought may be a fervent wish, but it's very unlikely reality.

IMDb is in the business of data, not messaging. When they stop putting resources into a business they don't want to be in, they'd have no reason feel stupid when people use the last days of their message forum to advertise alternatives. This response from board users would be completely expected, not some shocking surprise that makes them feel stupid.
