Anyone else irked by the youthful Sam Adams and the Joseph Warren affair

Let me start by saying I enjoyed this, going in I knew this was historical fiction and wasn't expecting it to be highly educational and took it as entertainment. Overall it is a good action packed series to watch on a rainy day. My biggest complaints are the youthful Sam Adams and the Joseph Warren/Margaret Gage affair. Ben Barnes is 33, and a very youthful 33 at that. Sam Adams was nearly 20 years older than Joseph Warren, 15 years older than John Hancock, 13 years older than John Adams, and 10 years older than George Washington. Ben Barnes as Sam Adams looks like the youngest founding father, George Washington looks old enough to be his father! I like Ben as an actor and I think he did a good job here, but I also feel he was miscast and the series would have been better if they swapped him out.

Another thing that irked me was Joseph Warren and Margaret Gage's affair, and his death. Warrens death is dramatic enough as is so I don't see why History Channel felt the need to embellish on it. The affair just seemed like a way to add some romance, I don't think it added to the story really.

Anywho this wasn't half bad. I know it's fiction and I know that it's not a documentary. I am pretty good at suspension of belief but I really could not suspend all the way through some of the errors.

I wasn't irked in the slightest. They got most of the details right of the what and why of the revolution. I know they took great liberties with the characterizations, but that didn't bother me in the slightest, because I know that's the way it is. It appeared to me that they were trying to appeal to a younger demographic. If they have to "jazz up" a few characters to make them interesting to a demo that might not otherwise watch, I'm all for it.

Nope, not at all. Its historical fiction, its entertainment...a movie based upon actual events. Come on we all know what Hollywood is like they beautify plenty and stretch truths, it helps with ratings and this was far too enjoyable for me to take notice.

Although in honesty if it had been awful, and hard to watch as in I'd cringe at every other scene, I would have posted a similar review or maybe even worse about these misleading properties in the show.

But it was a nice viewing and will get people interested in history, some find history boring because the way it is purveyed, this was far from boring, and I'm sure will get many to do there research, and discover the true story ( as we know it)

Plus they need some creative licensing and Ben Barnes was good in the role.

Good topic though, can see where you're coming from. And trust me there are plenty of people who are in agreement with you here, they won't stop posting about it lol.

I mean I wasn't infuriated or feeling some kind of way over it, it was just a little odd to me. Overall I did like the series though(I am also a fan of Ryan Eggold's and seeing him in a non-creepy a la "The Blacklist" fashion was nice).
