Only 3 Episodes ??

Yes, it's definitely historical fiction but it's likeable. Not quite up to par as AMC's "TURN", but it's still good. Disagree with the age of Samuel Adams--he was not in his 50's he would have been about 42 in 1775, certainly older than Ben Barnes. John Hancock needs to be more "ostentatious", not so passive. The only character we disliked is the drunken Benjamin Franklin. Not a good or accurate portrayal of him.

Samuel Adams was 53 in 1775.

You're correct. I didn't do my math correctly.

Not so sure that's inaccurate. I recall a documentary where a historian mused that it was amazing that the founding fathers got anything done with the amount of alcohol they consumed.

I agree, a lot of alcoholism in those days, especially in the army during the War. I suspect Franklin's partying mostly happened in his Paris years? Also I was wrong about Samuel Adams, he would have been 52 in 1775, not 42.

I remember my college history prof telling us that Franklin died from in infection from a broken leg he got whiskey jumping out the window of a married woman's bedroom. He was no angel.

reply

Benjamin Franklin?? I heard it was the New Yorker, Gouverneur Morris. He claimed he had a carriage accident but the rumor was he jumped out of the bedroom window of a married woman when he was in his 20's. He died when he was around 64 in 1816.

reply

Franklin was 84 or 85 when he died. He was very physically fit. He was the Steve jobs of his day mixed with tony Robbins and warren Buffett.

reply

Not very well done in my opinion. Of course this is only a fictional series but in any case the series fell at least three episodes short.
